Ok, what do we have here today, a 2001 Arran finished in a Palo Cortado cask. What was it in before? We don't know. On the nose it is immediately clear, this was some PC cask. A breathtaking intesity of honey and Sherry. ABV is relatively low for a 16yo, so the alcohol sits nicely in the backgound. The taste, again very very nice Sherry, reminds me of a 1978 Kopke I recently cracked for my wife's Birthday. Absolutely lovely. I added a spot of water for experimentation purposes, don't do that!!
So what cask was this in before it was re-racked into the PC? Hard to believe it was in a Bourbon Cask, or it spent quite some finishing in a 1st fill PC.
Warm, honey and top notch sherry
Lot's of complexity in here, Keep it in your mouth for a while and dwell on it.
Warm and wonderfull
