Sometimes it seemed to me like a young Caol Ila, then again like a Port Askaig 8 ... It is definitely young, you can tell from the nose, the taste and the finish. Not that bad at all, but you shouldn't expect complexity.
    • Nose
      83 83
A nose like the one I've seen with many young Caol Ila: pear-shaped, warm tin roof, peat smoke, seaweed. I would be surprised if it wasn't Caol Ila that makes up the majority of this blend.
After a while there is a greasy note, which then also brings a good portion of pepper with it.
    • Taste
      84 84
Heavy peat smoke floods the tongue, but the start is otherwise soft and creamy. Pepper, nutmeg, thyme and rosemary. The pear from the nose, now accompanied by tangerine water.
    • Finish
      82 82
Quite briefly, apart from the clear peat smoke note. Smoked pear, warm tin.

Not very complex. But pleasant to sip. Earthy, phenolic peat smoke, quite balanced.
    • Nose
      84 84
Phenolic peat smoke. Earthy, wet moss, damp pebbles. Wet wood. Something sweet. Tender citrus and menthol. Overall restrained and balanced.

With a few drops of water, the earthy notes are enhanced.
    • Taste
      84 84
Phenolic campfire smoke, earth and moss. Tar, a little sweet. Hardly any fruit.

The earthy aromas are enhanced with water.
    • Finish
      85 85
Gets salty. Wet rigging. Peat smoke remains medium long.
