  2. Don Cassi scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

The nose starts out very dark, intense and complex with dark bread, dried plums, cloves, some ginger and light notes of solvents.

Very intense in the mouth without burning, the alcohol is perfectly integrated. In addition, it is spicy, heavy and dark with tart rye notes and tobacco.

Wow, I would never have guessed blindly on 3 years or 58%, rather on 15 years and 48%. Super quality from the Dutch neighbors!

  4. St. Pauli scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

It's a young whisky, but a powerful and round one. It makes me think of a bourbon without the typical influence of corn (that can make it a bit over the top sweet). It has a good portion of cereal, fruit, spice, oak and cream.

It's worth the extra investment over the standard version.
    • Nose
As with the standard version, it's best to wait a while after pouring. The nose is quite intense (much more than the standard version) and also more versatile than the standard version. The base note is a mix of spices and cereal. Think of a combination of rye bread, gingerbread, bread with raisins. There is some clove, a bit of orange, some wood oils.
    • Taste
It has a firm body, with noticeable but pleasant warmth of the alcohol, and a round and oily feel. It's dominated by a cereal note still, but together with dried fruit such as raisin and prune. There is some creamy vanilla, cinnamon, dark cherry, toffee apple, and maple syrup.
    • Finish
Rather long, pleasant, quite sweet but with a slight acidic touch which is pleasant. The wood influence is there, but it is gentle and warming instead of delivering bitter spice. Ginger bread with sugar, maple syrup, dried fruit, cherry, polished oak, toffee and vanilla.

Nice product and quite curious about a Cley that has been in the barrel for a little longer, very promising
