    Flowery and fruity, but with quite a bite and it's very dry on the third chew.

      Flowery, fruity, white and yellow flowers, butter, honey, vanilla, ripe banana, very ripe apple, a little bit of lemon oil, hay.
    • Taste

      Alcohol bite quite sharp, very warm, light black pepper, alcohol distillate, white sugar, good amount of oak, light burnt caramel, very light mint. Not much else. Second chew is a lot drier, warmer, black pepper agressive, wood spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, barley, slightly bitter banana skin, very light smoke, tobacco leaves. Third chew even drier, lots of toffee, apple juice, dried herbs, hay, more smoke, brandy, buttery flower notes.

    An exciting, barrel-strong BenRiach who skillfully plays with sweetish-sour aromas and combines them harmoniously. On the one hand there are sweet and fruity aromas, on the other hand herbs, earthy and umami aromas. A slightly different BenRiach, who shows you new facets of the distillery. Compared to the large-barrel distillery bottlings that have already been tasted, they are less creamy and sweet (here more honey and caramel).

      The nose begins with a hint of vanilla and freshly cut flowers. Light fruits (mirabelle plums and apple), a bit of citrus freshness and slightly tart, tangy aromas that remind me of pineapple. The high alcohol content is very well integrated and hardly noticeable. In the background I can hear earthy aromas, umami and some heather, interesting!

      With the addition of water, the refreshing aromas become even more apparent (eucalyptus, mint), as does the umami, which is now more reminiscent of herb drops.

      Ok wow! He has power in the beginning. A good ginger spiciness spreads in the mouth, which leads to a tingling sensation on the tip of the tongue. The nose is confirmed. Fruits (plums, rhubarb, pear) with a vanilla topping and lemon zest, with subtle oak and light mineral, earthy and herbal aromas. An exciting, interesting mix of sweetness, fruit and earthy-herbal aromas.

      A little liquorice is added with water, the herbs increase and the fruit becomes less. I would then rather drink it undiluted, despite its 59.5%.

      Medium length with dark chocolate, cocoa, and roasted coffee. Sweeter with water, honey, toffee and a little liquorice.

    SMWS Tasting Notes: A bright, welcoming nose – we were making daisy chains by a garden shed in the sun with lemon ice lollies, apple strudel and upside-down pineapple cake. The palate was an intricate concatenation of flavours – tart, tangy and fruity (cooked plums and rhubarb, cherry pieces in dark chocolate, popping candy) with hints of ginger, coffee grinds and wood. The reduced nose was fresh yet earthy – forest after rain, Dove soap, minty tobacco, eucalyptus, Ricola bonbons and an apothecary. The palate became less spicy, but still sweet – cinnamon swirls, chocolate Swiss roll and a malty hot drink – stem ginger and liquorice toffee to finish.
