Whisky Reviews for Bunnahabhain 2009 SV

I notice that it takes a lot of water to keep the tongue and throat from being burned, but then things get really interesting.

Marzipan with dark grapes, sweet butter cake. Despite the addition of a lot of water, sometimes still a blow to the nose, but again and again a peppery surge comes along. After a while, there is a somewhat bitter, not unpleasant note, could be fresh tobacco.

Much less sweet in the mouth, the bitter, minimally bitter nuance comes up, fat dry sherry, marzipan yes, but much weaker than the nose suggests, a nice woody note remains.

It remains strong but not too long with the sweet wood note. A great malt to experiment with, due to the alcohol content there should be a lot to discover

Not a bad whisky, and it has full power and is quite tasty. However, for me the trend of the last few years is still confirmed. It only has something to do with Bunna to a limited extent. Anyone who has ever attended a tasting in the warehouse there knows what I'm talking about. For me, just too adapted in terms of the taste profile. Tastes like a "uniform porridge". I miss the typical taste notes.

with water: it becomes sweeter, but the oak notes become stronger, it still stings with a lot of pepper in the nose, even thinned down to 40%, but then it becomes very drinkable

Conclusion: not really the best sherry bunna, someone here was too hard at work with the pepper mill

Undiluted, the malt has to struggle badly in the nose with the high alcohol, which is, however, well integrated. After a little while in the glass, chocolate, coffee, almonds, dark fruits, leather and tobacco come through, plus a little wood, but there is a little lack of harmony, there is also some Bunna dirt, later a not too strong toffee comes -Sweet with it
    • Taste

The alcohol is almost better integrated in the mouth than in the nose, but the malt itself is a little one-dimensional, I especially like nougat-marzipan, some chocolate and oak
    • Finish
      83 83
surprisingly short, almonds, oranges, light oak tannins, a few dates and chocolate

Huh. This seems to be the most powerful Bunny ever bottled until today. Just followed by #900077 with 68.6% abv. On the label they wrote "full bodied and full flavoured". OMG - What are you doing Signatory?!
