Another wonderful bottling from an Oloroso barrel. The whisky lives up to its promising color. A creamy-soft pleasure with a nice interplay of sweetness and spice.
    • Nose
Clear sherry aromas, dark fruits; Plums, dates, raisins. But also nutty aromas of lightly roasted hazelnuts and almonds. This is followed by malt, honey and chocolate. A subtle orange note comes through every now and then. Over time it gets a bit spicier. Leathery notes, damp tobacco and damp wood.
    • Taste
Sweet to start with. Brown sugar and malt. Dark caramel. The typical Oloroso sherry notes are also present here. Plums, nuts and spices. A little water brings out the wort more clearly. Now cinnamon, a little pepper and cardamom also appear. The mouthfeel is soft and creamy.
    • Finish
The finish is long and warm. The spicy sweetness becomes a sweet spice and finally reminds of an espresso.

an intense and slightly weird Glenallachie sherry bomb, which is strongly reminiscent of a cappuccino with a lot of sugar
    • Nose
      89 89
sweet sherry aromas of mocha, milk caramel, nougat, dried figs and plums, pecans and rock sugar
    • Taste
      87 87
sweet and mouth-filling with a slanted sweetness of milk caramel and white chocolate, plus a pleasant oak flavor, roasted nuts and walnut liqueur
    • Finish
      88 88
long, honey sweetness and a strong nut flavor stay

Nose: starts with sour cherries and cranberries, followed by a light, light chocolate note, plus plums, raisins, roasted hazelnuts, orange peel, honey.

    Taste:
Typical Glenallachie profile, very, very smooth but a bit sharp you can tell that he is a bit young. Raisins, honey, chocolate, figs, very dominant oak, caramelized dark fruits.

    Departure:
Very long and intense. a little spiciness followed by dark chocolate / cocoa, orange jam, freshly ground coffee beans, figs, dates, walnuts.

Fed up with cherries, otherwise a modern sherry-whipped malt from Billy Walker's room. Well done, but like most of his younger Glenallachies (around 10y) rather alcoholic too. Well, a few more years in the barrel are obviously good for the distillate. So here it has to be some water and a lot more oxygen as an addition, then it's drinkable.

    • Nose
First nose pungent, followed by tart, herbal notes and then dark sherry fruits, cherry, blackberry, grapes, these become less with time with a slight acid that resonates, red, slightly nutty, caramel, quite sweet, but the alk wants not completely wane.
    • Taste
The taste is very similar, only less sweet. Sweet and fruit can be found, but the herbal notes clearly dominate here. I'm not sure if that's the kind of herb I like.

It's certainly not a bad whisky but IMO the alcohol is too prominent and the taste is a bit too simple for a higher rating. It doesn't stand out from other young, heavily sherried whiskies.

What the wonderful colour of this Oloroso Sherry Puncheon matured single cask bottling may suggest is fully confirmed by nose and palate. A voluminous single malt with a potpourri of dark ripe fruit, creamy sweetness, fine tobacco notes, dark chocolate and warming spices. The alcohol is well integrated - but it is still worth playing with water, as it makes the GlenAllachie even more sweet and creamy. For me a lovely dram and certainly something for the sherry aficionados, too.

    • Nose
A typical sherry cask matured whisky with a potpourri of steamed dark fruit, raisins, dates and some blood orange on the nose. Sweet with brown sugar and sherry, followed by oak spice, tobacco leaves, cigar box and a subtle herbal note.
    • Taste
Sweet with sherry and a creamy compote of dark, ripe fruit. Then pleasantly warming with oak spice, nutmeg, brown sugar and some cinnamon. A touch of bitter orange with dark chocolate, cocoa and subtle walnut linger towards the finish.
    • Finish
The finish is long lasting, warming and initially creamy sweet. Then it dries slightly with grapefruit, dark chocolate, coffee aroma and a subtle nutty note.

With water: After adding a few drops of water, a little more freshness on the nose with dark fruit, rum raisins, sherry, brown sugar and notes of old leather. Wonderfully sweet and creamy on the palate with fruit jam, raisins and figs. These are joined by notes of dark toffee, cinnamon and a little walnut. Overall less warming. The finish is still long and creamy, becoming dry towards the end with cocoa, coffee aroma and a touch of walnut.
