And it can, perhaps not as a mainstream whisky but as a great representative of an exciting taste approach. And let's be honest: who wants to be everybody's darling?
First a fruity impression on the nose. Here you can find aromas of fresh fruits: red currants, raspberries, pure claws, blood oranges and apples; also fresh walnuts and hazelnuts, cinnamon, coriander. Sherry is also available, but it does not dominate the aroma profile but acts as a reserved companion with elegance and finesse.
On the palate a fruity, sweet mix of a much younger looking whisky. A wonderful citrus note gives the An Cnoc lightness, sherry brings it elegance while the spice of the wood provides the necessary volume. Black chocolate, ginger, nuts, bitter almond, white pepper and a strong mint set accents and diversify the aromas. Definitely a whisky that is good for a little more time in the glass.
Long finish, mouth watering, with mint, elegant sweetness and a spicy finish. It's great how much the salivation is maintained and how it keeps bringing out new nuances.
