Whisky Reviews for Ardmore The Wild Hog Whk

  1. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Over time it improved a lot in the glass and then became really exciting. I like it quite well despite the obvious youth.
    • Nose
very malty, malt coffee, the smoke is there, but I still have no Islay influence on my nose, lemon, sweet. slightly greasy, well maybe a bit Laphroaig, still looks a bit wild in the nose, goes well with the wild boar. the malt is also a bit chocolatey, minimal pencil abrasion
    • Taste
Sweet, heavy acceleration, vanilla, smoke, a lot of smoke, lemon now too, so I wouldn't blindly guess the Islay barrel, but it's also difficult, that is of course more exciting with a distillate that does not bring any smoke itself
The second sip starts with a lot of citrus, especially at the tip of the tongue, which I find really exciting now, again a lot of vanilla, a lot of smoke, also the malty, a little spice, maybe in the transition to the aftertaste, then a little Laphroaig touch in the smoke, from Mouthfeel very good, intense, also here a bit rough, which doesn't bother a young smoker too much
    • Finish
dry, chewed-up lemon skin, the smoke falls off a bit at the back, maybe that's just pure Ardmore smoke now
