    • Nose
      50 50
      4 // 5

Far too strong! Rubber, leather, oxidized sherry.
    • Taste

This is a sh-sh-sherry bomb. Still got that oxidized, rubbery character with hints of red fruit. It's fun, but the finish is all where it's at. // Gonna have to figure out how to dial in the water on this one...
    • Finish

      9.5 // 8.5

A minutes-long, chewy, and delectable dessert. The evaporating fumes make a meal unto themselves. // Fruitcake!

    official information:

Our latest entry in the Blended-Malt-But-Still-Single-Cask Nation canon is here! We can safely say this is a 100% blended malt from Edrington that was married as new make spirit back in 2009. We cannot safely say which of Edrington's malt whiskies were blended together at that time...but you better believe it's damn delicious!

This cask bottling, distilled in July 2009, spent ten years maturing in a first fill oloroso sherry butt. It was bottled at cask strength in August 2019 at 64.8% ABV. Cask # 420 yielded 594 bottles.

Our tasting notes are as follows:

    Color: Gold

Nose: Malty and spicy with a raisiny sweetness at first sniff but pay attention and poached pears, warm honey cake, and candied ginger soon reveal themselves.

Palate: Rich and unctuous on entry with notes of melted toffee, caramel kettle corn, warm dates and pecan pie then a drying oakiness accompanied by ground pepper towards the rear of the palate

Finish: Long and rich with pleasing pepper, subtly spicy ginger notes, and even Werther’s Original toffee candies

On the label: Warming and oily with prominent dark fruit, baking spices, and buttery candy. A dram with which to contemplate the darkening nights and impending winter.
