    Quick hit review.

    Linkwood and rye is an interesting combination, I'm in. Light, fresh and rather simple, the nose unfolds with lemongrass, honey and a touch of eucalyptus. Peach, cinnamon and peppery oak characterize the taste, which is unmistakably rye-driven and sweet. The finish emphasizes honey, citrus fruits and lingering spices. It is a nice sipper, but still quite young and not overly complex. I enjoyed it.

    Bright, fresh, tasty and affordable.
    The new higher ABV, even if it's just 1,5% gives it an edge over others.
    • Nose
      85 85
      Not quite Malibu, but coconut is the first to reach the nose.
      Sweet with fresh lime juice.
      And every now and then a waft of minty toothpaste.
    • Taste
      87 87
      Delivers pretty accurately on the nose.
      Sweet coconut on arrival, mixed in with a touch of vanilla.
      Maybe not as much lime, but still a little citrus.
      Add in some spicy licorice, and a hint of mint at the end.
      Water is not recommended. The spice from midway into the finish is holding up, but everything else just becomes indistinguishable.

      Past medium length with an interesting development.
      The fresh minty toothpaste returns... don't spit, but rinse and repeat.

    N: Very fresh, sweet, vanilla, coconut. Pineapples, floral, banana, citrus fruits. Grassy as well.

    P: Full but smooth, vanilla, coconut, some pepper. Citrus, pungent a bit.

    F: Lots of sweetness, pretty long. Later on it gets more and more of a rye.

      Immediate citrussy notes like lemon, lime and limoncello. Followed by a hint of sour granny smith apples. A note of vanilla. Some bourbon too. And at the end notes of hay and cut flowers.

      Sweeter on the tongue with notes like vanilla complemented by honey and coconuts. Next notes of lemon and a little hint of apples. Some bourbon on the palate too with a note of rye. At the end notes of oak and licorice.
    • Finish
      83 83
      Short to medium-long. Notes of cinnamon, vanilla and a bit of licorice lingers on for a minute or 3.

    A pretty complex expression for this 8 y.o. that gets a warm influence from the first fill bourbon and – mostly – from rye barrels. While the nose is richly fruity (pineapple, pear) and on the sweet side, palate is surprisingly oily and bitterweet, with predominat citrusy flavours and a touch of bitter almonds, layering a warm texture, from cocoanut to some more spicy ginger notes.
    Very interesting and balanced, and also easily enjoyable.

    Nice sweet and full bodied whisky, a lot of coconut along the way. Very pleasant.

      Stronger now, again a lot of sweetness, coconut, vanilla, some pepper, pretty long. Later on it gets more and more of a bourbon.
