I got a soft spot for the Càrn Mòr Strictly Limited Edition.
They are usually young, but also usually tasty. They are uncolored, unfiltered and affordable. After the "revamp" they give even greater value with a higher ABV.
However, when I see a bottle that is stated "from 2 casks" I always wonder why they were not bottled individually as 2 single casks. Blenders claim they are creating something better than each of the components. But we all know they also try to save casks that are somehow not deemed good enough for a single cask bottling. And if so how much better would the good cask have been on it's own?
We'll never know, they are forever married. Still, I can't help to wonder, and the better the whisky is, the more I wonder. And this was one of those.

The notes on the bottle is "Big and bold with rich fruitcake".
But the nose is that of a very nice rounded sherry.
Sweet, yes it's a bit fruitcake.
Rich chocolate, candied dark fruit, a little apple deep down there.
      Well kept and polished wood.
      Very pleasant and inviting nose.
    • Taste
      90 90
Delivers more than revealed by the nose.
I guess the bottle note was for the taste, as the immediate spice gives it a "big" feel right from arrival.
In no way "hot", just a good warming that carries beautiful flavours.
Not too complex, just very yummy.
Coffee with lots of sugar, sticky toffee, dark juicy fruits, apple pie.
    • Finish
      89 89
If nothing changes, is it a finish or just a continuation?
The main flavors just linger for quite a long time.
I don't mind the lack of evolvement or transition.
It strikes, it bites and it won't let go. Nothing else to do than enjoy the rush of sweet venom.
If anything, there is an ever so light feeling of drying wood.

Some nice delicate sherry influences, certainly no sherry bomb. But very pleasant for sure.

A lot of milkchocolate, spicy, cinnamon. Ripe apples, raisins, and later on prunes.
    • Taste
      86 86
Full taste, chocolate, caramel, red fruits, strawberry. Honey as well.
    • Finish
      85 85
Still a little tingling mouthfeel, some slight red fruits, honey and chocolate. Middle long finish.
