  1. wisekycourse scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Palo Cortado is perhaps, surely the best of Sherry wines, it served as a potentiator of this Couvreur whisky.
    • Nose
A little wax, used glue that dries on a sheet, a little dry leather, a little liqueur, dried and crushed hazelnuts
return of vanilla scents, a little juicy coconut, caramelized, woody scents a bit like on some old grains, and a little crushed nut, moldy limit, but noble mold !! and dry wood; amazing, it's soft, linear but intense!
    • Taste
Creamy sweetness, alcohol takes its marks with finally a little more than the 45 ° often usual!
The second sip gives fresh, neither dry nor large sherry sherry, in the center of Oloroso and Amontillado, just in between, vinified, vanilla scents, sweet spices, the woodiness arrives at this high point, tenacious, we feel the almond and the crushed hazelnut.
It is simple, limpid but it is also intense due to the mixture of fine sherry scents, macerated and maderized fruits, the wood and the leather come together to give a soft, almost pastry sensation on the frangipane.
    • Finish
peppery spices, almost burning, more solid wood, vinified scents, a little vanilla, nuts, more undifferentiated fruits that remain on the palate.
The finish is progressive and lasts over time.

  2. Lorion scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

Spectacular and really unique. Certainly not everyone's taste, but for his (for me positive) uniqueness he earns 90 points.
    • Nose
Hui, the whisky smells intense. Extremely intense, but there is no trace of alcohol. A uniquely dominant walnut shell, embedded in a slightly bitter oil. Behind it is a mild orange, almost a tangerine. A little yellow and very floury apple. With a little time, roasted coffee beans are added. Fermented grapes and shriveled grape skins. Dry coconut, dry tobacco. A delicate vanilla, a little leather. What a great and combination!
    • Taste
Significantly sweeter than expected. Quite full and present. The wood tingles lightly and refreshingly. The whisky is almost viscous in the mouth. Tobacco here too. Musty, winey leather. When swallowed, an oily bitterness sets in that dominates the taste. Intense walnut.
    • Finish
Medium to long and pleasantly warm. A bit of bitterness remains. Walnut.

So far I am not really a big fan of Palo Cortado ripening. Therefore, this malt surprises all the more positively. I also have the fermented notes that are typical for me during this maturation (I usually like them less), but they fit well into the overall body. Something very different from the overaged, for example - very interesting, different and delicious.

fermented grapes are directly present in the nose; behind it a nice fruity sweetness; Oranges; somewhat overripe apple; Honey; a little leather and vanilla; delicate oak
      - Intense nose with interesting and complex aromas. Exciting!
    • Taste
      90 90
great voluminous mouthfeel; almost syrupy; sweet; winey fruity notes (ingrown); slightly musty; some leather; sparkling oak; it gets better the longer you keep it in your mouth
    • Finish
      88 88
long; sweet-spicy; Grapes; Walnut; old moldy wood
