Charred bbq grill, old wood with plenty of leather. Burnt rice bits at the bottom of a clay pot. Deep fried chicken entrails. Weird pomerol cask mix, hence my lower finishing score, to an overall.

    • Nose
      Blind sample:

      Colour:
      Dark copper

      Nose:
      My first thought was Portcask.
Starts out very minerally and dry. This is followed by a subtle saltiness and a little oiled leather. Lubricating oil, dirty workshop, cold filter coffee are just a part of it. Above that, a fine note of campfire smoke. Smells like street. Dry asphalt and concrete block. Then the dark berries come. Raspberries, blueberries and a light vinegar note. The longer I smell it, the more my colleague reminds me of mulled blueberry wine. Liquorice and gooseberries in the background. Very cool.
The longer he swims in the glass, the ashier the colleague becomes.
    • Taste
Ashy, dry appearance of smoke. Very dry already. Then a pinch of salt peeled out. The leather goes more in the bitter direction. Dirty raspberries with still mineral soil on them. Cold espresso bitterness. The workshop air again. Freshly flexed steel smoke, engine oil and, behind it, are hiding blackberries. Bring that pleasant sour note.
    • Finish
Long. Spicy, dry. Ashy smoke. Then towards the end, tart leather and a dark berry aroma.
