  1. Archer scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Kilchoman, ex-bourbon barrel, 10 years. It cannot be mentioned enough: ideal barrel and ideal age.
    • Nose
      89 89
Warm peat smoke, mild fruit notes of red apple and overripe pear - very tasty and balanced combination of aromas. Vanilla ice cream, honey, sugar beet syrup, a little malt. Milk chocolate, cafe au lait, toffee.
    • Taste
      89 89
Despite its 55.7%, it slides smoothly on the tongue. Warm smoke, some Black Forest ham, red apple, red currants. Mild spice of nutmeg and thyme. Milk chocolate, honey and vanilla, some quince jelly.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium to long, slightly dry, increasingly spicy and smoky, without losing the fruit notes. You can taste it incredibly good and long.

  3. etwa77 scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

quite closed and harsh when taken neat, it develops magnificently with a drop of water.. especially in the nose, there appear strong notes of vanilla pudding, wax, leather and white fruits while the palate oozes of bitter lemons, ash, delivered with a chewey-meaty consistency that is very.. mhm.. yummy!

peat aside, it makes me think of a well-executed bourbon-matured Highland Park or even Ben Nevis - the same level of precision in craftsmanship and ability to amaze with a powerful sensorial experience.

the finish is indeed better without water.. it has more punch, more tartness and the bitterness really becomes a signature of this dram.. a medicinal concoction, one with a strong dose of absinthe.
