A dream of old HP, not only tastes outside, but also really wilderness, with peat smoke that matches the vintage. Deep but less wide range of flavors than in the 25yo OB, which I think was almost too intellectual for HP. 94 points.
Candle soot, resin, extinguished fire, cold ash, polished oak. Then sweeter, anise, pine needles, turpentine, cooling. Oregano, water mint, clear mountain stream water, wet pebbles. Yeast dough and orange peel. Rotting forest floor, rotting branches and wet scrub. With water: quince jelly, propolis.
Ancient, cool, dusty and resinous, moldy, earthy peat smoke, cold ash, tree sap, polished wood, shoe polish plus leather, overripe blackberries. With water: more moldy earth, then clearly mineral, wet earth and wet grass on stony ground. Candle soot, propolis and linden honey, quince jelly, lavender.
Soot, resin and wet pebbles, crushed stone and slush after the rain, wet leaves, rotting wood. Long, some old coffee.
