Fine peat, bread, grain, burning candle, vanilla, oak spice, some malt. Balanced, somewhat thin, little body, little intensity, slightly sweet, one-dimensional, unspectacular.

    Very interesting and unusual whisky.
At the same time, it practically does not offend the taste buds of even the most picky lover of this drink. Unless the aroma is simple and betrays its youth! Well, the Duchessy pear is also available in the taste of Glenfiddich 12.
I was especially intrigued by the taste: dark ale, cinnamon, cloves and tart oriental spices!
    Cool!
Be sure to check out this distillery!

    • Nose
A lot of fresh grass, to a lesser extent mash and duchess, bitter aroma of wormwood and cinnamon
    • Taste
A ton of pear candies dumped on fresh grass, not critical ferocity, an interesting dark ale note, intense sweetness - 8 out of 10, a lot of sweet fruit tones, creamy caramel, a little bit of smoke, a lot of oriental spices and their inherent astringency, nutmeg
    • Finish
Cinnamon, cloves, unobtrusive bitterness, tightening the mouth cavity, astringent with tannins, pleasant dryness

Not bad. You can have a drink, but it won't take up any other bottle on my shelf.

Ripe deep yellow fruits, baked banana. Menthol-smoky.
    • Taste

Fruit tea. The alcohol has a pleasantly dry woody note and tingles on the tongue.

      Quite one-dimensional tanine.

Glasgow 1770 The Original - Fresh & Fruity, 46% alc. Original bottling. Maturation: Bourbon barrels (first fill), maturing in new oak barrels

Nose: Mildly sweet, pleasantly fruity. A little apple and banana, plus malt and a slight note of caramel. The sweetness is only slightly stronger and takes on a concentrated and almost artificial aroma. It smells of fruit gums and apricot liqueur, in the background a damp summer meadow.

Palate: Very gentle, almost a silky mouthfeel. At first slightly fruity with pear compote, but then clearly fresher and spicier aromas soon follow. Mint tea, eucalyptus, malt and a little pepper, slight hints of nutmeg and caramel.

Finish: Short to medium length, here the fresh oak now comes out with clear spicy aromas. Nutmeg, ginger and pepper. The whisky remains tingly in the memory.

Conclusion: The whisky has not quite found its line, some things do not yet match. He can't hide his young age either. The basis has already been successful, however, with a few years of maturity and the right barrel management, a really good and complex whisky can be created here. 79/100 points (2021)

    flavors
Sweet children's chewing gum, light red fruits and a cooling note of mint

    taste
Malty, sweet kid's gum (but not as artificial as the nose), spicy

    finish
Medium length, even more artificially sweet children's chewing gum, wood spice

07/05/22 from 78 to 80 today not so much children's chewing gum

Wood, sweet fruits, a little caramel and vanilla. Unfortunately, it lacks volume, i.e. complexity. An easy drinker to enter the world of whisky.

There still has to be a lot to do ... The 2020 Kirsch Single Cask was really good, but this original ... Well, I don't really know. Young, woody, sweet and spicy, with strange and unpleasant notes. Unspectacular, monotonous and unbalanced. The 46% are still quite well involved. You can do better, 1770!
    • Nose
      80 80
First impression: very reserved and light. Then there are malty notes, some vanilla, light red fruits and a slightly cooling note of menthol (alcohol).

Sometimes the malt has something of a sweet chewing gum?

Mint, fruits and light wood. All in all interesting, but extremely unspectacular.
    • Taste
      78 78
Malty, spicy, again sweet like chewing gum. In between there is a note that is difficult to describe and is slightly unpleasant. Is that coming from the Virgin Oak finish?

Slightly musty and woody, with sweet herbs.
    • Finish
      77 77
Here too: woody, somehow uncomfortable, also the strange note of chewing gum. Musty, sweet.

      Not really good.

  16. 2ndSip scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

fruity and sweet on the nose together with a portion of oak spice.
Soft in taste with a good portion of fresh oak.
You can still tell the youthful and fresh character of this malt. But good things can grow out of it in the future.
Overall not bad, 'fresh & fruity' fits, but it is too expensive for a 500 ml bottle.
    [80 - 76 = 'really not bad'-whisky --- but do I need a (second) bottle?]
    • Nose
      81 81
first (surprisingly) red dried fruits, then the sweetness of honey and caramel and white sugar. The dried fruits turn into light fruits, especially juicy apricots and fully ripe apples.
Thanks to the Virgin Oak, a good oak flavor arrives in the nose. I go towards cinnamon and some nutmeg. If he could draw some air, then fresh wood aromas are added.
The Virgin Oak becomes clearer over time. There is also fresh grass / hay as an aroma.
    • Taste
      80 80
soft start, the spice is retained in the pepperiness, but comes through well with nutmeg. Fresh cut wood is present.
With the second sip it is fruity and a little sweeter again, although that fresh wood-flavored moment appears again and again at the back. Who likes it ...
    • Finish
      79 79
relatively short finish. The oak seasoning from the Virgin Oak lasts the longest on the tongue.
The 46% slowly 'burn' their way down the esophagus while warming.
