A great HP! Really extraordinary aroma, strong and crispy spicy in taste.

    87.5 points.
    • Nose
      87 87
Sweet pastry notes, red fruits, berries, clear herbal notes, strawberries, vanilla, toasted caramel, crème brûlée, some raspberry cream, fresh sweet citrus fruits, light chocolate. The fruits almost resemble sweet chewing gum. A slight tart, herbaceous and almost maritime note can be seen in the background.

      Very exciting nose!
    • Taste
      87 87
Caramel, tangy citrus notes, a tart-sweet herbal note, slightly musty sherry, strong spiciness, very pleasant sweetness, red fruits
    • Finish
      88 88
Honey, sweet herbs, sweet citrus fruits, light pale fruits, crisp, spicy oak, a touch of delicate smoke (which could also be strong spice). Pleasantly tart.

    • Nose
      Blind sample:

      Colour:
      Cloudy gold

      Nose:
When pouring and from the sample itself, a little smoke came out.
In the glass itself, rather far back. The colleague smells of forest. Wood, leaves, bushes. An artificial aroma is added. Something like essential oils. There is also a mineral touch. Lime, gravel and rust. It doesn't really smell fruity.
With a little time in the glass, there is something brackish and slightly maritime. Fermented lemon, juniper and an ashy tinge.
Wood glue and freshly processed wood. Partly something of carpentry.
    • Taste
Strong, spicy start. The alcohol tinkles on the tongue. The cooling essential oils are also at the start. This fine smoky note is also added to the taste. Actually, the taste reflects the smell exactly. Plus tart herbs. And a bit sour citrus notes.
    • Finish
Medium to long. First spicy and ashy. Then again the oils and fermented, light-colored fruit. A sour nut taste comes at the end.

Totally Springbank-ish Highland Park with lots of chalk, minerals and just a proper drop of peat. Totally not overwhelmed by 1st fill sherry cask, especially considering 13yo ageing. I'd rather say that cask was some light type of sherry (fino?).

    Balanced nose, taste and finish

  6. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A wonderful highland park with a decent (light, non-superimposing, sweet) sherry kick
    • Nose
Spicy, sweet sherry, roots, parsnips, herbaceous, clearly recognizable as Highland Park, with a little extra sherry, with water sweeter, almost sticky, fruity.
    • Taste
Quite strong on its own, but still OK, nice Heidekrait notes from the HP, a little floral, light smoke.
    • Finish
A bit of oak bitterness compliments the sweet sherry note, slightly red and again nice herbaceous.

Old school highland park, pretty well done
    • Nose
      87 87
Slightly indifferent, cream cheese with pieces of apricot
    • Taste
      83 83
Very powerful sherry notes, somewhat alcoholic, herbal, slightly moldy, slightly peaty, heather
    • Finish
      83 83
      Very nice finish, sweet fruits
