I bought a two cl sample at the Brühler Whiskyhaus for 10 euros. Due to the small crowd, I start directly in Glencairn.

A really nice pleasure whisky - not particularly spectacular, but I'm sad that it was only a 2cl sample, because this whisky is on a consistently high level in all respects.
    • Nose
      90.5 Glencairn

Immediately after pouring, I am already greeted by ripe notes of a slightly older bourbon maturation. Already at the beginning hardly any alcohol in the nose, but also some wood - which I like very much, if it is not so bitter in the foreground.

It gets really nice after just 5-10 minutes and I find it difficult not to try it directly. It spreads comparatively quickly and so far I think the alcohol strength and the time of bottling are great.

The nose is a really classic bourbon maturation, vanilla, old, light wood, sweet notes of caramel, toffee and also some After Eight mint chocolate and some light, southern European fruits in the back in the middle - the oak resonates on all levels. A great balance and quality between the three or four elements of this spectrum of aromas that are offered here.

A point of criticism, however, is that even after 25 minutes there isn't that much coming out of the back, so the complexity is limited, especially in the end part. Therefore only very solid 90 points.

Clearly tart and more oak here, immediately afterwards a really great and ripe sweetness, with a note of tobacco at the back, the entire time there is something moving on the palate.
The mouthfeel is outstanding and I just want to let it roll very gently on my tongue before swallowing the sip and enjoying the aftertaste
    • Finish
Almost very long, but rather light and not extremely intense.

Aromatic yet quiet, I poured a bit of this dram, left, and when I returned, its sweet tropical aroma had filled the room. The nose was beautiful— rich and fragrant with an earthiness underlying sweet tropical fruits, pastries, and florals. The wife and I took our wedding photos in a tropical botanical garden, and I felt like I was right back there, wondering the pebble pathways and peaking in the orchid and corpse plant conservatories.

The palate left me in shambles and not in a good way. An oddly sour-herbal-floral quality kept poking in between notes of unripened tropical fruits and honey. The body was very much on the light side and the flavors faded far too fast, they seemed to zip on by so that I was left with just a bit of tingling heat and spice. The finish was generally short, though some of the honeyed notes lingered longer. It has been a long while since I have been so in love with the nose on a dram, but been absolutely unimpressed with the palate. I was a bit surprised, the wife liked it more than I did and declared it an ideal whisky sorbet— a refreshing palate cleanser. Not quite what I want out of a 29 year Longmorn.
    • Nose
Mellow tropical florals and fruits with a subtle earthiness. A tropical garden stroll through earthy floral notes of hibiscus, plumeria, and teak with a picnic of buttery pastries. Almond croissants, bacon epi bread, and passionfruit sticky buns arrived with tropical fruit sugars, hints of citrus, and glossy magazine spreads. The underlying earthiness hinted at potting soil and garden detritus.
    • Taste
Light-bodied with a restrained profile of tropical fruits, earth, and honey. Inside the tropical conservatory's greenhouse was a melange of orchids and poinsettias that arrived with a mellow oiliness. Hints of basalt and limestone paved pathways came into focus as mineral notes appeared interspersed with green tropical fruits—mangos and apple bananas. Hints of guava pastries with a mild buttery quality appeared at the end with peppercorn and a bitter herbal note.
    • Finish
Lingering notes of clay and green fruit.

7/10, maybe a little on the harsh side score wise, it's well matured and tasty, no wacky oak in sight and some great old school touches. very good but at £250 RRP, it's not for me.
    • Nose
dignified, soft, rice pudding with jam, slightly underripe banana, honey. drop of water reveals some great old school notes, dried papaya pressed in an old book, dunnage jam, a little dough, old spearmint leaves, maybe a little cinnamon.
    • Taste
rounded by age. gentle barley sugar sweet, cloudy lemonade, slight herbal touches (various mint leaves, lemon verbena, a touch of dill maybe), slight creamy rice pudding, finish is quite long remaining on caramel and dank lemony herbal mash.
