Shoulder pour, open for 4 months, generous water added.

Pretty solid ex-bourbon Speyside type that if you can find for a good price (good luck these days) totally worth it as IB's seem to be the way to go for value.

Without water the nose is better. It's fine even with water though. White peach, lavender, crystallized honey, sweet pastry, and eucalyptus. Floral and sweet.

Intense fruitiness, mostly orchard fruit and peaches specifically. There is a bright sweetness that comes forward, but is held in check with the tartness of the oak and the years spent. It evolves a decent amount on the tastebuds if you allow it some time to.
    • Finish
      88 88
It lingers for a decent while, vanilla, mixed fruit, and the fresh eucalyptus and mint note comes back from the nose here.

This dram takes a lot of time. I opened my bottle three months ago and the whisky is only now truly opening up. It also takes a good hour in the glass to fully present itself in all its glory. So the dram requires patience. But it rewards those who wait with a flavourful, complex and intense experience. Takes water well.

  3. Moses did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I got this bottle by chance and very cheaply. With this alcohol strength I will test at least 20cl to write my notes for the next 20cl. Only the texture becomes a tightrope walk with water. It takes time. But that much should be said in advance. I give the first 6 cl already relaxed 86 points because this bright profile goes exactly in my direction. Whether it is enough to get to or beyond the delicate 88 points, this malt has yet to prove from the shoulder ......

Until then, "Slàinte Mhath" dear friends.

Addendum: Don't get into the topic. I'm already on the third spoon on the dram. The alcohol bite gives me problems. I have to be patient until he's well below my shoulder. I'll get back.

Addendum v, 01.08., I give up. Too lively for me! Not mine.

  5. OJK scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Surprisingly young/new-make feel despite its age, with an orchard fruit schnapps-like profile, with the accompanying alcoholic bite on the finish. Less smooth and easy-drinking than other similar Glenburgies, but entertaining nonetheless.

Malty with some orchard fruits and yellow fruits and a bit of alcohol bite
