A terrific dram that fully exploits the advantages of a small batch release. A lot of character like in single casks and on the other hand the complexity of a vatting.
    • Nose
      93 93
A mixture of sherry flavors, nice and sweet, sugar beet syrup, forest honey, leather, deep wood notes, a touch of mineral notes with citrus and a little dried ginger - the character of the distillery is clearly fighting its way past the barrel, I could sniff my way
    • Taste
      90 90
Sweet and creamy, a bit spicy and quite strong but pleasant bitterness, citrus peel, very complex and interwoven
    • Finish
      91 91
Intense dryness and sweet raisins, the warmth and sweetness remain forever on the palate and invite you to take another sip

Go with an open mind. U will be pleasantly surprised. This one is quite good.

Packed similar to the previous 2 editions, the tim box is quite flimsy. Mine had some bends. The seller was willing to exchange but all of them had some minor damages.

A limited edition of ‘9000’ bottles at 50.4%. Well it strictly is not limited then. Matured in sherry butts and puncheons and finished in ‘Ruby’ port casks.

    Color: Mahogany. Copperish ruby.

Nose: Manuka honey, caramel custard, Very robust. Bursting with flavours. Heavy influence of the port wine cask finish. Red cherries, sweetened custard, raspberries, sultanas, cranberries, and some aniseed. A bit of sugared almonds and cloves but more sweet.

Palate: The distillery character still exists. Not overshadowed by the casks. Loads of cream custard, kiwi fruits with some oak spice and peppercorns in mid palate. Rose petals and sandalwood. The port cask influence dominates the ex-sherry cask influence. Full bodied. Thick and viscous. Vintage feel from its age reflects. Some sweet dates. Milk chocolate. Excellent. Brilliant.

Finish: Long. Juicy. Sugar dusted berries and some rose. Port wine influence shines with that ‘berry’ and ‘honey’ woven finish. Some powdered cardamom flavour lasts.

Its a sweet dessert whisky. Alright. But it is also superb and a terrific vintage dram thats full of robust flavours. Go with an open mind and try it. U would love it.

The Port casks are very dominant.

If you like sweet and balanced whiskys, then you will certainly enjoy this one.

I liked "Brodick Bay" and "Lochranza Castle" a little better.

Glass blenders. Stood for 20 minutes.
Aroma: excellent sherry, fruity-polished with tones of old lacquered wood. Cool, but nothing out of the ordinary and multi-layered.
Taste: excellent, sherry and wood, turning into varnish, and then into fruits (raisins, figs and prunes, sun-dried bananas), which remain in the form of a long pleasant aftertaste ...
    Posh Malt.

Excellent balanced very interesting whisky. % alcohol is very comfortable. Disposable for a long thorough tasting and analysis of derivatives.
    • Nose
      90 90
Complex, delicate. Vanilla-floral and fruity motifs are well intertwined with an excellent sherry bouquet of prunes, cocoa, dark chocolate, caramel, barberry
    • Taste
      91 91
Dense, rich, rich in derivatives. Toffee, strong tea, black currant, dried fruits, spices
    • Finish
      91 91
Very long, slightly astringent, but not heavy. Spices, spices, a little oak.

Really good stuff. I wouldn't have trusted Arran;). Heavy modern sherry profile, very spicy and ideally complemented by the port influences. Balanced between fruity sweetness, leathery age and spice in your face. Very long, complex and pleasant finish.
    My association:
You come to a room without a window, everything including the ceiling is made of polished mahogany, there are old leather wing chairs inside. Raisins and dark chocolate are on the table. A servant comes and brings fresh cherries. The smell of coffee draws in. And fruit cake. I sit down and stay there for a long time. I like it

What I like about this Arran in addition to the beautiful fruity sweetness is above all the interesting interplay with the ginger sharpness in my mouth that is beautifully integrated for me. That makes it exciting and works well together. But what I don't like: the price for what is offered. It is very tasty, but for> 150 euros I expect a little more.

Right after opening the bottle, it doesn't impress. Very much on the red fruit side, but not really as candied as I expected. On the bitter side of sherry which I'm not fond of. Nice spices though and seem overall complex. I'm coming back to this in some months for sure.
