A funky dirty sherry bomb, this is a bold full flavored cambeltown attack. Great value!

Dirty sherry, strawberries, raisins, earthy peat, vanilla wafer, radish
    • Taste
      90 90
Mouth coating, sherry and rubbery funk, earthiness, light peat/char heat

Tasted H2H with the 2021 batch.

    This batch: 88/87/89 points
2021 batch: 83/85/83 points (very rubbery and some sulphur - I don’t like rubbery notes at all, or I would age my whisky in tires)
    • Nose
      88 88
No rubber or sulphur, unlike with the 2021 batch. Clear red fruit, some malted barley, a handful of coastal peat, toffee - all in good balance, though without subtlety. I strongly prefer the nose of this one.
    • Taste
      87 87
Toffee, chocolate covered cherry, coastal peat. A bit simple but really nice.
    • Finish
      89 89
Red fruits, strong coastal peat, menthol, a lingering sweetness. Rich oloroso and toffee at the end. I think 88.5 fits better but I can’t do that, so 89 for now.

Nice dunnage warehouse nose releasing quite some mouldy dampness and rotten wood. Taste gives barbecue aromas which quickly turn into a woody astrigency.
I prefer the 2021 version in direct comparison, which carries a more savoury and maritime profile.

    Very nice and warm whisky
    • Nose
      83 83
Raisins and plums with some honey and sea scents
    • Taste
      84 84
Nice mouthfeel with a syrup like texture. Tastes of chocolate, coffee and dried fruit
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium to long with a warm and spicy end

One of my favorite whiskys. Beautiful bottling. Unfortunately no longer for sale for a normal amount. Sweet peated whisky. Very nice soft nose and long finish. Peat is not predominant.

    Needs air.
I was disappointed when first opening the bottle.
But a few months later, everything came together.
And there we are, the typical Campbeltown funk is in the house. Fascinating "Springbanky" piece of whisky, where Sherry is very pronounced, and beautiful, no acidity, neither too much sulfur nor absolute dryness, but still leaves room for saltiness and spirit power. Good cask selection I would say. Adding water progressively and you get red fruits. Simply superb.

Lots of sweets, sea, smoke and freshness. Everything is beautifully intertwined and creates a feast of smells and flavors.
Really brilliantly balanced whisky, it was an hour of fun with the sample.

A shared dram, so not much to go on but I really liked this one.
    • Nose
      89 89
Nice mild but still deep sherry notes.
    • Taste
      90 90
      Full rich body.
The re-charring has really brought the best out of the casks.
      Fully enjoyable without water.
    • Finish
      90 90
      Long and tasty.
