- You get what to expect. The current Sherry monsters of the Edradour brand from van Wees also taste like the Sherry monsters from two or three years ago. As a reminder, I found the eight year old 2008 version (ID: 83779) a bit more harmonious. In order not to be misunderstood: This is a very good sherry malt and if you like the "Edradour sweetness", you will also love this variant.
_With a little water_ the 2010 loses noticeably less heat, becomes rounder, "friendlier". Nevertheless, the sweetness remains dominant, the spicy aromas subside somewhat. Overall, very well adjustable with water to personal taste!
At first smell unmistakably a "Sherry Monster Edradour"! Slightly artificial rubber sweetness - a small rubber dinghy in the lake in the late afternoon sun, in which four children drenched in sun milk romp - naturally, sherry flavors, a good portion of menthol. A tart note with marjoram and some damp barrel wood. The relationship to the 2008 Edradour by van Wees (ID: 83779) is really unmistakable. After a lot of time in the open glass, some cherry and plum come back. You get exactly what you can expect from these Edradour single cask sherry monsters. Which is by no means bad if you like it.
Ok, the 56.6% are already extremely present and heated. Behind it is the Edradour rubber sweetness. Half an hour of open breathing in the glass is also a blessing for the development of aromas in the mouth. Then the sherry, cherry and plum notes come through. The alcohol in the 2008 van Wees Edradour (ID: 83779) seemed a little better integrated. Whining at a high level. The barrel wort is of course also present, marjoram and lovage. Sherry monsters.
The medium length finish is expected at least on the spicy side. The barrel wort is captured well by the sweet aromas and complemented by the herbal notes. You get what to expect.
- How beautiful has God made you?
A sherry nose to kneel down.
sweet, Edradour's baby puke is almost gone, felt alcohol at most 48%, but a few drops of water still fit.
The sherry sticks to the mouth for a long time, slight bitterness, How does it develop in the glass? No idea, already empty, is far too easy to drink.
