Neccarus 20 years old "special edition" (only while stocks last for this batch!)
- Alt Enderle single malt whisky
- 20 years old "special edition"
- 0.5 liters
- 43% vol.
Our 20 year old Neccarus is an absolute rarity on the German market, which makes us proud. After our "child" came of age two years ago, we decided on this "20 years Neccarus special edition". Thanks to the same barrel management as with our multi-award-winning Neccarus 12 (including the best national whisky 2013), it tastes like this - only significantly more intense and with influences from another 8 years in the barrel, of which the last 2 years has been stored in Laphroaig barrels.
Just like "Neccarus" 12 years old, with the typical floral sweetness, fruity elements and delicate spice, the "Neccarus" 18 years old is more intense in everything. It is even richer, velvety and fine creamy.
The expansion took place in bourbon, sherry and port wine barrels which gives it its wonderful amber color.
For the past 2 years the wine has been stored in Laphroaig barrels
It shows a malty nose with floral notes. An amazing aroma that always presents something new when you bring your nose over the glass.
The palate is very clear and clean, supple and gentle, as well as rich and full of body. In the middle, the light, oily body bears the malt again and a generous complex fruitiness (subtle accents of tangerine and orange) complemented by rather harsh influences. It has a refreshing character and is yet spicy due to the nuances of grass and minerals. There is little buttery oak in the taste. Over time it becomes more aromatic while the lighter, younger notes dance around the core of the well-stocked mature spirit for a while. The rich malty sweetness returns with a nutty edge.
In the aftertaste soft and remarkable. At first sweet, followed by strong fullness, the finish is extremely long, complex and only slowly subsides.
With the Neccarus 20, this is reinforced by the light, if noticeable, smoke note due to the final storage in Laphroaig barrels.
This well-equipped malt elegantly shows the full complexity of its mix in all areas.
Our whisky is named after the famous Neckar River, which flows through Stuttgart, among other places. The name Neckar is of Celtic origin and means ´wild water´ or ´wild journeyman´. It originally comes from the Uberuropean word "nik" which means "to storm away". The development of the name began in pre-Christian times with the name Nikros which became Niccker via Nicarus and Neccarus and ultimately became today's Neckar.
