Typical Caol Ila from the bourbon barrel.
Sweet, warm vanilla on tap and citrus with smoke due to the distillery character.
Quite balanced (except for the finish) but not as big as SV Vasen.

Very balanced whisky. I'd maybe like it to be a bit more oily, but otherwise I can't say it lacks anything

Almost clear as water, but tasty, has the typical Port Askaig flavour

  6. dongolzo81 scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Pale but tasty thing. The bourbon barrel worked well. Nice fresh citrus notes on the nose that permeate the typical cold ash of the Caol Ila distillate. Sweetness and acidity are balanced here. The malt then shows its strength in the mouth. Everything becomes much clearer. The mineral ash lays in front of it, then the sweetness takes over. Lemon biscuits with a hint of mint. The second sip has more flavor. In the finish it should be a little more. It's a little too thin for a smoky malt. Conclusion: Not particularly complex, but tasty.

A gently peated dram - a pleasant session dram which even non-Islay fans should be able to enjoy.
