Compared to the other ratings, my 86 points are not exactly high, I know.
I also like the nose quite well. Here I have light smoke, something greasy, slightly salty, caramelized, but also fruity / berry notes.
Unfortunately, the taste is not my cup of tea because I mainly have sour notes that remind me of currants (which I actually like). However, there is also a nice sweetness and nuttiness in the taste, which can also be found in the finish. In the finish, the whole thing reminded me a little of peanuts. In addition, of course, there is smoke both in the taste and in the finish, which comes out more strongly than in the nose.
A great whisky for those who have no problem with the slightly sour taste.

    Solera Sulfur Butt ...

an Islay whisky that is more like a Ledaig.. way to go Ledaig!
    • Nose

fat, sherried peat and a good dose of menthol.
    • Taste
      86 86
sweet and sour, the peat is less present here than in the nose.. quite feisty and simple.. youth has its perks.
    • Finish
      87 87
fresh herbs, a tad bitter, but sweet wins in the end.. better than the taste, which is unusual.

    Nose
whooow, what a start! Lots of blackberries, kumquats and raspberries. Some plums and dried figs as well. Followed with beeswax and acacia honey. Hits of tobacco in cigar boxes. Later on gentle but clear maritime notes of sea shells and kelp. You could enjoy the scent for hours.
    Taste
Now more on juicy resinous oak intermingled with earthy peatness. Old sherry notes. Roasted chestnuts. Espresso coffee. Toffee and treacle. Later on raisins. Dark chocolate as well. The palate is not as awesome as the nose, but who cares. This is still sublime stuff.
    Finish
Long with quite a lot of dry oakiness. A little black pepper. Nutmeg and clove. Eucalyptus at the end.

The nose demonstrates wonderfully that Rauch in combination with sherry also gives comparatively young whiskys a noticeable complexity. In addition to the slightly phenolic smoke, I would describe the aroma as "sweet and salty" because colorful sherry notes meet fresh sea air. Nuts are hidden behind it.
    • Taste

Fruity and sweet at the beginning, then the malt becomes stronger and adds spices and smoke. Slightly creamy, an intense and at the same time pleasant mouthfeel. Over time, the fruits become drier, slightly tart notes appear and the maritime character continues to prevail.
    • Finish
      87 87
Smoky, dry and tart. Espresso and oak lie on the tongue and slowly let the whisky fade away.

Stated Caol Ila in the Kirsch presentation video. Compared to other Caol Ila sherry casks I remember recently this one comes without the rotten banana ( I hate it)
in the nose. Great Balance of sweetness and nuts mixed with smoke and some darker fruits ( to me cherry like). I like

Smell: Sweet, salty, raisins and nuts, plus strong smoke that goes in the direction of a medicinal, greasy note.
Taste: The raisins and nuts are here again, salty and a light citric acid taste. The smoke is even more present in the taste.
Finish: It gets dry. Nuts, dried fruit, greasy smoke and a pleasant oak flavor remain.
A beautiful sherry barrel was used, which does not drown out everything, but sets pleasant accents. A fine maritime whisky.
