Alright, it's bourbon time! Marker's Mark Red Wax is another classic bottling with a good portion of wheat in its mash bill. As expected, the nose is soft and intensely sweet with vanilla, fudge and a touch of sawdust. Simple but actually 'pleasant'. On the palate, the youthfulness of the spirit becomes more obvious. Corn syrup, honey and mild pepper are followed by alcohol and dry wood spices. Hints of popcorn and bitter almonds characterize the short and uneventful finish. An easy Kentucky Straight Bourbon which doesn't kill you if tried neat.

It had been years since I last tasted this one, but I remember this to be much sweeter (not better though). This batch is to my liking.
    • Nose
Rather dusty nose on white bread, farmer’s butter and brown sugar. Nougat and hazelnuts. Oranges in the background. Even some cold tea. Nothing earth shattering, though.
    • Taste
Nicely creamy on the palate. Immediately honeysweet with a green edge. Think caramel, oranges, gummi bears, coconuts and cherry liqueur. Quite pleasant.
    • Finish
Surprisingly long finish in which the spices take most credit.

A good nose, but unfortunately it's a bit rough from there on. the development is rather thin, and the flavours remain somewhat unpronounced and hidden, while the balance isn't all that well. it's said to be a 'beginners bourbon', but I think it's even a bit too harsh and nippy for that. Enjoyable, but not something I will fill up my cabinet with. 74- 75 points
    • Nose
syrupy, dried red fruit, vanilla oil
    • Taste
sharp alcohol nip, sweet (bubblegum), burnt sugar, vanilla
    • Finish
sharp, something metallic and mineral, creme brulee / vanilla pudding, sweet spice and a faint leather note

A very tasty bourbon with a nice, sweet and extremely soft nose. Surprisingly spicy in the mouth with the pepper note. Departure, unfortunately, rather meaningless. There are no rough edges. Therefore, I would even see it as a cozy drinking whiskey rather than a cocktail spirit. Because whether it prevails over the other ingredients? I see the Bulleit more suitable for this task.

The malt shines with a beautiful rich amber color in the glass. There is a hint of the glue note typical of Bourbon in the nose. But in no way as strong as with other bourbons. Right behind this note comes a caramel-like sweetness. The vanilla cream is also clearly present. A nice soft nose. The alcohol with 45% is not noticeable.
    • Taste
      76 76
The sweet start in the mouth quickly turns into a light aromatic pepper note. Followed by a few spice notes. A little corn cake resonates.
    • Finish
      75 75
The end is rather short. Few flavors resonate in the finish. The oak on the barrel is, if at all, only to be noticed in minimal form due to a slight bitterness at the absolute end.

"The lone saving grace of a bad wedding bar"

Safe to say I'm less than impressed. I know this is perceived by many people (non-whiskey enthusiasts) as a 'high quality' bourbon but unfortunately it is far from it. I can suggest several similarly priced options that would make a better sipper or mixer. ????‍♂️⁣
    • Nose
Cherry cough syrup, caramelized brown sugar, almond extract, wood polish, a tinge sour funk⁣.
    • Taste
Thin. Brown sugar, mildly bitter oak, touch of grain neutral spirit. Muted flavors overall.⁣
    • Finish
Short and sweet initially with a bit of astringency at the very end. Everything feels subdued.⁣

Can you drink and I like it better than the 46th
But be careful: with cola it is damn easy to drink! The hangover the next morning is gigantic: D

    Fine entry level bourbon.
    • Nose
Immediately vanilla and oak spice. Quite boozy
    • Taste
Sweet corn notes and dark caramel. Notes of apples/pears as well
    • Finish
Rather short, sweetness is carried forward
