  1. LDB scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    Delicious, if not overly complex.
A bit too sour for my taste

Salty spray, then nüscht a long time :)
Mineral elements, a hint of honey and pineapple. Well, I'm a little underwhelmed.
PS Water doesn't really help much, it just produces more white wine-like acid.

Strongly sour at first, but also oily, with clear citrus and pepper / ginger notes. Later it goes in the direction of rhubarb pudding. Vanilla pod, honey with some smoke in it. Delicious! ;)

A nice development at the end! The whole thing ends with elderflower and tonka bean, the wood leaves a pleasant, light tingling sensation on the tongue.

Old wood in a museum, wood polish, mineral, lime, mussels, boiled ham, mushrooms
    • Taste
      88 88
Hot, white pepper, wood, moss, plum brandy, indefinable herbs, beeswax
    • Finish
      89 89
First sweet, then sharpness remains, followed by a slightly bitter note, light wax, in the distance a little pear

  4. OJK scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

A very characterful and distillate driven pick. It's dense in flavour with an oily, buttery and full mouthfeel. You have the classic Clynelish waxy floral arrangement, but with added layers of salted candied oranges, lightly smoked fruit syrups, and an earthy (almost even farmy?) touch. Complex and enveloping.

Wax citrus herb and chalk very drinkable

Difficult dram. The barrel would have been better off in a blend.
    • Nose
      85 85
Sweet, candle wax, orange peel, a slight note of glue, some green wood, furniture polish, a little grassy
    • Taste
      83 83
Lively, alcoholic presence, bitter-sweet orange peel, slight dryness, distinct oak spiciness
    • Finish
      84 84
Oak, slightly bitter but also sweet, orange peel and beeswax stick to the palate for a long time
