Whisky Reviews for Midleton Very Rare

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.09 points

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Heavily collected by many nowadays, but not much tasted. This expression from vintage 2001 is subtle but complex with a good mix of pot still and grain whiskey. In particular the finish of this one is quite good.
    • Nose
Restrained notes of cooked apples, overripe bananas and peach at first. Followed by dustiness of old books and polished furniture. Hints of cereal and cardboard notes as well. A little soap at the background.
    • Taste
Lots of toffee and fudge intermingled with marzipan and nougat. Candied oranges and zesty notes of lemon. Turkish Delight. Later on gingerbread and some roasted almonds. It's all very creamy with a good mouth texture
    • Finish
Medium long with cinnamon and Turkish Delight. Ginger and liquorice at the end. Interesting to see how these Midleton vintages have slightly different profiles.

    TASTING NOTES
Nose: Intense with a spicy character and a hint of herbs.
Palate: malt and apple, accompanied by banana and fine honey.
Finish: Long and dry, with a hint of oak and grain.
