Well, after a very long time on the wishlist & then purchased in June, 2021 - tasting time arrived! (Sep, 2021)
It presents very well: Nice colour (medium gold / deep copper). Hung well on the glass, medium tears - very intoxicating nose at 46%ABV. ???? Fresh powerful whiff, malty & grainy ??
It quickly warms with spice, even citrus, dark chocolate, then softens into a medium long finish with some seriously dark cocoa & young wood.
I cant say its a favourite - but coming out of Italy makes it interesting & definitely proud with this on my shelf. If I researched correctly, we have 3 different malted grains (barley, rye & wheat) - Too pricey to buy again, but have a go if you can - its unique, no peat, its Not a sherry bomb, it is young & worth trying! 8 / 10
N: Strong spirit; with a nice sweet fresh wood or nuttiness. Young
P: Warming & bitey, quite dry, even doughy & then spicy - unusual, no real evidence of either bourbon or sherry! If anything, a "gentle" rye presents!
F: Wood & very dark bitter chocolate - it lightens up - wait for a little PX sweetness ... very agreeable ???? I like it.
