    My first port Ellen.
    • Nose
      Colour:
      White wine

      Nose:
A very pleasant, yet fruity smoky note comes first out of the glass. Burning pine needle smell. Something salty and smoked ham with pineapple. I'm a bit surprised now. Because it smells right of tropical fruits. However, always wrapped in a meanwhile mineral smoky note. With some time in the glass in the glass comes wet wood, hazelnuts and plums. Licorice and a certain Gummibärchensüße can not be displaced.
The nose is still clear and fresh. The aromas can be beautifully determined directly.
    • Taste
Soft, really gentle start. A hint of pepper and dry smoke. Almost ashy. Now comes much more bitterness and herbier herbs. Somewhat unripe mango and peach. Modriges salt water. The mineral, sandy is also found in the taste again. Just like the hazelnut and dry waffles. Some nougat and paint fumes. Green grapes and plum brandy.
    • Finish
Medium long with dry smoke. Neat bitterness and woody. Light honey notes come to the end.

N: Sensational nose, and that’s within epic context.
T: Fairly peaty=smoky in relation to what’s gone before and a little less iodine.
    F: Short-medium.
    C: What a nose. Blog

    Scores a B[-]

    Color: unoaked chardonnay
Nose: salty, followed by soft peat and something sweet like spun-sugar. hints of small stone fruit.
    Palate: creamy peat, salt, camphor.
Finish: bitter olive pits, smoke, salty apricot rind

    Easy
to drink loads of the stuff, though I wish that it were at higher
proof. With more strength, this would be a knock-out, though it's still
    great at 43%

Good balance and quite some character.
Notes made as part of a blind tasting, guessed that this was an Islands whisky rather than Islay.
    • Nose

      A very full, fruity nose.
Kiwi, peach, marshmallows and dry grass. Complemented by salty notes of smoked butterfish.
    • Taste
Slightly more bitter and spicier than the nose suggests. Again gold kiwi and peach, but in addition to the sweet notes also nuts (e.g. almond) and hay. The smoky and salty notes are again present in the background and remind of salami.
    • Finish
Fruity and slightly bitter, but not very long. The peaty notes are not dominant.

  6. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

N: grass, plum, some smoke and bees wax
T: honey, saw dust, some smoke and spices
    F: medium with iron
HWF VBT-3 sample 5 tasted with Aby
    my guess a Brora 1982 28y from G&M
