    Another virgin territory covered here.
This one as many other provided by karloff.
The type of bottle that is not available locally and that either passes under the radar or get low priority when ordering on-line. So getting the opportunity to sample them is really appreciated.
This was good, this is promising.

      Light and delicate nose.
Sweet with a little fruity zest and milk chocolate.
      Fresh apples being most forward.
Obviously young but very rounded without any roughness or sharp edges.
It would have been interesting to know what kind of red wine casks were used, because it smell more like sherry.
46% you say? I need to taste it to make sure.

This got all the cylinders running right from the start.
      Pleasant oily mouthfeel.
Sweet, fruity, spicy. All in right balanced amounts.
The spices have a little peak making the alc noticeable, before relaxing into a more herbal feel.
    • Finish
      84 84
      Fairly long with nice development.
Even with the flavours of the spice not that noticeable, it remains cheek warming.
Sweet milk chocolate returns at the end.

Close to the 2014-2018 batch 3, but heavier on the cask spices, and with a bit more wine. I prefer the 2014 to this one by 2 points (83 pts.). Still, a solid young whisky that doesn't feel nervous or out of balance.
    • Nose
Winegums and liqueur. Faint barley and digestive cookies, and jelly fruit candy. Then the cask spices hit (muscat, allspice), and some fresh ginger. Time makes it slightly spicier.
    • Taste
Compared to the 2014 this is much more all over the place compared to that one's sweet fruity focus. Spices dominate here, followed by barley, candy fruit, and a hint of chocolate. The spiciness bites too much for the gentle distillate to properly contain, IMO.
    • Finish
      A bit superficial, and gingery.

A positive surprise. Simple, honest and delicious whisky. Nothing outstanding, but with pleasantly sweet fruit notes and an accompanying spiciness. Fits wonderfully in summer time. Also attractively priced, you can't complain about that!
    • Nose

Very refreshing, sweet yellow fruits, lemonade, vanilla, tropical ice cream, some cocoa, very delicate, spicy wood, mango, passion fruit, canned peach, tangerines. Fresh, fruity and playful light character. Really nice!
    • Taste
      85 85
Delicious. First pleasantly spicy wood notes, then a nice sweetness towards vanilla and again juicy tropical fruits. Relatively creamy. Constantly accompanied by this slightly tart, spicy wood note, which becomes a little stronger and drier over time.
    • Finish
      84 84
Pleasantly spicy and delicately tart, slightly dry. Unfortunately a bit flat. The sweet notes flash out from time to time. What remains, however, is a slightly tart, bitter mouthfeel.

Sweet and fruity on the nose, flourishing flowers (maybe lavender). Sweet on the taste, very distinct notes hit - rooty spices, biscuits and more exotic fruits. The finish is pretty long and bitter, leaving a yeasty cake mark.

Well, very nicely balanced for such a young whisky. I like it very much.

I've enjoyed this bottle and sometimes it dips but not often.
A good English whisky, non-chill filtered and 46% which is a good start on their whisky journey.
Plus this is very reasonably priced for a newish distillery, not like some others I could mention with their barmy prices.
Definitely look out for some of their future bottlings.
    • Nose

Lots of honey and light chocolate.
Marshmallow, green apples, unripe banana skins.
If there is such a thing as a smooth nose then this is pretty close.
No alcohol burn or anything and my nose is buried deep in the glass.
Some cereal notes and dried fruit.
    • Taste
      87 87
More honey and more of those dried fruits with added spice.
The spice is good though, just enough to compliment the above.
I am not going to say this is smooth but it does go down easy.
Wine gum sweets and green tea.
For such a young whisky it has a lot going for it.
    • Finish
      86 86
A medium finish and it does get a lot spicier towards the end.
More of that light chocolate and barley right on the death.

melon (honeydew) and floral on the nose

wine gum and fruity on the taste.
