Mhhh, something complex comes into the nose: lemon oil, cake batter, earthy-peaty, fresh tobacco leaves, chamomile, fermented fruits. Subtle, interwoven and very unusual. Delicate medicinal smoke. Somehow mysterious and not really tangible, but extremely exciting ...
Strong, dense, oily on the palate! Much more powerful and dominant than the nose suggested. Perfect drinking strength with almost 48%. Roasted barley, very malty, brown sugar, caramelized onions, overripe exotic fruits. Waxy, salty, creamy and mouth-filling. Really nice oldschool (old Clynelish / Bowmore?). Again without a clear profile, but wonderfully complex and a little crazy. Really big tennis!
Long, musty, leathery finish. Herbal and grassy notes linger for a long time.
With a little clearer direction and a little more sustainability and finesse in the finish, it would have easily gone over 90 for me. Only a few small, slightly perfumed, restless notes bring this absolute top blend to earth.
Tremendously exciting for everyone who is looking for the unusual, but without fancy barrel experiments.
