Anam na h-Alba
Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Ex Bourbon Cask / Marsala Barrique Finish
02 / 2008-03 / 2020 12yo
Strong, dark rose
Raspberries dipped in milk chocolate.
Earthy moist notes, bark. Dark grapes and sweet chewing gum.
Cold, wet ashes. Smoking cat, campfire extinguished by rain.
The whisky is almost creamy and sweet on the tongue, creme brulee with dark grapes.
Sweet wine from old barrels, oak makes itself felt.
Fruity, dry flavor of the Marsala.
As the drier grows, the smoke slowly comes through and covers the tongue with cold, stale ash.
There is also some ham under the ash layer.
Dry, dull with cold smoke and residual sweetness from fruity grapes.
A very adult South Islay beauty.
The focus is no longer on pure smoke, but on the almost elegant sweetness of the Marsala, which is highlighted by the dry smoke notes.
