Whisky Reviews for Aultmore 2008 DT

- An honest whisky. Deep but not complex. Slightest alcoholic sharpness. Good and tasty, but not great.
- Conclusion: Overall a balanced experience, but I was hoping for more. Lets miss the depth in taste and aromas. The character of the distillery and alcohol is only partially interwoven with the character of the barrel. It looks more like a (put-on) finish instead of a full maturation of 11J. I guess a Palo Cortado or Amontillado barrel. Definitely one of the new modern sherry whiskys, something for lovers of these pieces.
Still beautifully chosen by Duncan Taylor: no bad notes, no sulfur, lots of fruit / sherry and good to drink in cask strength.
With a little water and some time in the glass, it becomes more pleasing to the nose and mouth.
Lots of fruit, full of sherry, caramel and vanilla
Light tingle, light pickled fruits, caramel, dry sherry
Sherry, becoming drier, slight bitterness, full oak flavor, medium length
