  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

Again a very fresh and sweet Glengoyne 1972 with fruity and flowery characteristics.
    • Nose
Fresh spring flowers. Gooseberries and lemon. Polished oak. Toffee. Quite perfumy as well.
    • Taste
Creamy and waxy. Oranges and Coconuts. Light oakiness. Caramel fudge. Custard. Honey. Cinnamon.
    • Finish
Long and sweet. A little peppery. Ginger.

    nose:
vanilla, red fruits on the strawberry with its wet tail, hairspray, a little varnish and the soaked wood that goes with it
sweet honey, white chocolate (when it melts in your mouth!), wet flowers, citrus fruits and their skin, very wet too
    mouth:
spices, glue, sweet caramel, melted honey, bitterness occurs, more wax then citrus fruits on the lime, chocolate, apples and pears baked in the oven with the sugar that comes out, a little fruit syrup which caramelize just before the fruit paste, very warm, a little velvety, bitterness at the end.
    final:
long, sweet, on honey, vanilla, lemon, almond shell, intense dry oak, peppery spices and chocolate to finish.

No tasting notes as such but the nose is ok, the palate you could describe as being full of orange & lemon zest , mixed with honeycomb.
Better with water which makes it less aggressive and even more fruity.
This is a nice old Glengoyne.

Probably one of the most vanilla loaded scotch whiskies - a bit of charred oak and it could be a bourbon - seriously it is actually pretty drinkable.
    • Nose
      89 89
Plenty of vanilla, coconut, yellow fruits, peach, pineapple, spices - pretty good
    • Taste
      90 90
Spices, lot of vanilla, subtle sweetness, fruity, little citric, fine oak wood, cake dough, creme brulee
    • Finish
      89 89
Long, warm, spicy, still mostly vanilla and oak wood

  6. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Vanilla custard coconut banana lemon honey, very fruity and drinkable

  7. ctu scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Fresh and neat nectar with a pleasant ABV in this age, refill sherry makes it all enjoyable in the background.
    • Nose
Floral. Vanilla, honey, citruses and lacquered wood. Fruit nectar.
    • Taste
Powerful and creamy. Waxy fruits. Green apple, coconut and candied orange peel. Vanilla, milk caramel and cinnamon.
    • Finish
      Long, spicy, sweet.

  8. Pépé scored this whisky 91 points Expert Junior

An excellent whisky, completely exuberant by its red fruit side, supported by a well proportioned wood. Deserves to take off 90 from at least a small point yes!
    • Nose
Beautiful strawberries that jump to the nose immediately. On a nice wooded bed, clearly. Then comes a layer of chocolate, it's so effective. Feeling of marshmallows, roses and whites at a time. Roses for the strawberry side, white for the vanilla side of the barrel. The chocolate flirts with the nougat.
    • Taste
At first glance well wooded, vanilla, quite strong in alcohol, then breaking with strawberries and berries. A little too violent to be fully appreciated for me, but what is it greedy all here, delicacy-style. With water, the mouth is more accessible, the texture becomes silky and particularly nice, all without losing much of its superb.
    • Finish
Long enough, we stay on the sweet side of the dram, on these vanilla strawberries

sergeColour: gold. Nose: I must confess I do not remember if this one was a cask that
was shared with The Nectar (yeah, getting old) but there are many similarities,
although this one is significantly sharper despite being only stronger by 5%
vol. No, wait, after ten minutes both whiskies are almost identical. With water:
even more identical. Mouth (neat): funny how it’s rather different from the
Nectar at this point. More on lime and green pepper, green apples, lemon juice…
Very, very zesty. With water: the same whiskies now. Finish: same. Comments:
same. Let’s add one point for the extra-oomph (and extra-whisky, actually).

    • Nose
Nice freshness, it is light, delicate. We do not think there is 57% whisky behind that. Lemon, orange (more in acidity and zest than in the fruit itself). A light honey hides behind these citrus fruits. Very delicate nose. Light woody but was not hyper active. Good!
    • Taste
Mostly woody (without being too disturbing). Lemon. The mouth is not easy to grasp. A lot of bitterness in the middle of the mouth too.
    • Finish
      Long on citrus fruits
