For a minute there, it looked like this one was going
belly up on the palate, but that was just a feint. Between 80 and 100 EUR,
    depending on where you shop.
    • Nose
The nose is soft and very lightly smoky, but very
herbal. Garden herbs to be precise: thym and parsley. The fruit is from the
citrus family with hints of apricots and gooseberries. Even some coconut. No
mint, but eucalyptus. Freshly polished leather and some candle wax. Honey and
furniture polish. Quite a complex nose. While softer than that of the 1994, I
      prefer this one.
    • Taste
The attack is soft and a little spicy, shows citrus
fruit up front but turns bitter quickly as if from tea that was left too long.
Luckily there is enough honey to keep it creamy. Tobacco and leather, but also
eucalyptus. Some apricots jam and orange marmalade. Grapefruit. Mandarin from a
can. Big smokiness now. Gets back on its feet after the initial bitterness and
      turns out quite complex.
    • Finish
The finish is long and smoky on grapefruit and lemon

The nose is actually quite good. But this is not very interesting in the mouth and finish.
    • Nose
Herbal tea with candy sugar. Grapefruit. Fruit muesli with nuts and chocolate. Orange jam. Everything carried by a slight smokiness.
    • Taste
In the mouth a bit weak at first. Creamy. Toffee. Forest honey. Smoke. Later, it is then intensified by the oak spice and it tingles something.
    • Finish
Walnut. Oak. Quite distant smoke. Overall, the departure is unspectacular and quite short.

Aroma : delicate peat, honey, dry wood, earthy tones, sweet and sour fruit, dried apricots. The taste is sweet with sourness: fruits (notes of citrus), honey, light peat, smoke, a few spicy spices, tea. The aftertaste is sweet at first: smoke, tea, orange jam, a hint of honey and nuts; in development is dry with bitterness. Conclusion . A fairly balanced, smooth whisky. But there is not enough fortress. There is no pressure and drive. Rating: 89 (n23t22f21b23).

Herbs, caramel, honey, biscuits, milk chocolate, green apples and oranges, plus the gentle smoke.
Very creamy and gentle on the go, the not very long finish disappoints something.
Also this HP would have done a few more turns very well.

A slight increase in the proportion of first-fill European oak Sherry casks underlines the balance between sweetness and smoke for which Highland Park is renowned by whisky enthusiasts the world over. In essence, this expression is a bridge between 18 year old (known to many as The Best Spirit in the World thanks to the Spirit Journal whisky writer F. Paul Pacult) and 21 year old (World’s Best Single Malt, World Whisky Awards 2009). The light green tones on the packaging represent Orkney’s fertile farmland.

The nose has honey and orange peel notes, along with a great blend of nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. The taste is very smooth with a spicy buildup of cinnamon and cilantro that fades to reveal citrus, vanilla, and honey notes. The tangy finish reminds me of sweet and smoky barbecue sauce. Outstanding!

A pleasant whisky with enough depth to stay interesting for a while.
    • Nose
Very fresh and soft with light peat smoke and herbs. A subtle sweetness with sugar plums, honey and cotton candy make for a pleasant (albeit unspectacular) nose.
    • Taste
Smooth with a more noticeable peat and smoke influence. A little spicy and bitter, but still elegant. Some tobacco, leather and granola, but also a sweeter side with dates and orange jam.
    • Finish
Medium and smoke with a hint of rubber (sulphur) in the end.

Fortunately still enough body at only 40%.
    • Nose
Very pleasant. Honey, apricot, plum, caramel, milk chocolate and a whiff of peat. When it breathes a spicy orange-y touch of sulphur.
    • Taste
Milk chocolate filled with mocha praliné. Plum, caramel, honey, leather and again a bit of peat.
    • Finish
Caramel, milk chocolate, peat and strawberry.
