    A chemical cheese and rotten fruit nose - but in a way that's actually pretty appealing - spread on an under-baked sourdough loaf. It would certainly grab your attention in a line up of drams. A nice full body with herbal spice underpinning the flavours carried through from the nose, with a peppery bitterness becoming louder as it moves onto the finish, which is unfortunately a little short. A very entertaining dram.

    ????: white wine, slightly yellowish
    ????: spicy, bourbon, sometimes sweet candy, a bit tart a'la virgin oak, a bit waxy,
    ????: strong, very sweet, astringent, slightly alcoholic, not too long, but ends with a slight acidity
    ????: short, slightly acidic
    Probably a little weak barrel, like an interesting sweet, but you can feel the sharpness of this barrel and this acidity does not sound well here, poorly
    ????: 2.5 / 10
    ????: 80/100

    a hidden Highland (so here we do not see that it would come from Clynelish), and it should be known because it goes rather on the fruity scents of Ben Nevis, in short:
    a slightly vegetal nose, it also smells of glue, undifferentiated but very strong macerated fruit, tenacious, intense, malt
    the mouth leaves on fairly strong spices, a roundness then with a pastry, creamy side, still a little glue, old wax
    the finish is quite long and goes well with the fruit in the basket, the malt, a soft oak and the sweet pastry, which reminds me of a Balvenie.
    next day:
    almond, a well-cut peach syrup juice with water

    This one benefits A LOT from air! I kept the rest of a bottle - about 15cl - for about 4 weeks and now this is a complete different animal. Wow. First nose and taste, even with a lot of time in the glas, was purely alcohol. The rest of the aromas were barely noticeable.
    Now there's overripe apples, honey, some wood - quite good really.

    Color: pale gold.

    The delicious clynelis notes are flattened by an extremely bulky barrel, which is a shame. Bottled younger, it would probably have been richer, older still more uncomfortably woody. I can recommend a sample, but not a bottle. Was around 84 points today, but I will leave my sample open for a few hours and report the days if something has changed.

    Edit: No, not even after four weeks ...
    • Nose
      Prickly woody, a little resin, crab apples, pina colada, rapeseed honey, mustard seeds. After some air: Calvados, ginger, lots of cheese. With water: a bit rounder. Powdered sugar, pineapple, propolis, sunflower oil.
    • Taste
      With water: resin, another very penetrating cheese note, straw, some beeswax, feta. Crab apples, unripe plums.
    • Finish
      Long, resin, hot coffee, river water, some mint. Rabflower, sunflower oil again.
