Very interesting and complex whisky for its age. Stand alone, the honey wax makes it special.
    • Nose
      86 86
Firstly honey and ripe apple. Then also pear. A clear salty-maritime note, without peat smoke. herbs and malt sweetness. The honey will turn into honey wax over time. Very attractive.
    • Taste
      86 86
The entry is spicy and peppery. Herbs are added, as well as honey and malt sweetness. As a counterpart to this, the maritime salts. Pear and apple are more in the background. The whisky is clear and pure.
    • Finish
      88 88
The fruits become stronger again in the finish. Plus honey wax. pepper and oak spice. Longing.

a very interesting standard. Incredibly complex for the age and a great variety of flavors from the nose to the palate to the finish. Very varied and special
    • Nose
Sweet, herbs and floral notes (flowery), some maritime notes, becoming fruity, honey and malt lightly emerge. In the background, citrus fruits come a little later, mainly lemon or lime
    • Taste
first sweet which quickly changes to a pleasant spiciness. Malty and yet salty at the same time. With the salt, the maritime notes come out again. Later it becomes fruity with oak notes. Nuts come in the background
    • Finish
Sweet malty with a lot of oak, spicy, a little honey, yet salty maritime, a bit of smoke easily comes through at the end. Medium to long.

It’s simple and not punchy, but nice.
    • Nose
      80 80
Crisp fruit, apple. Underlying honey. Malt comes in and takes over, letting those other aromas in now and again, though sometimes those recurrences have a musty introduction.
    • Taste
      84 84
Mostly malt, some fruit. Tastes nothing like cherry, artificial or natural, but reminds me of it, so I guess some cherry-like fruit I’ve not yet eaten. Low impact of ethanol creates a spicy sensation.
    • Finish
      80 80
Slightly smoky (ever so slightly, I can’t stress how little, but it’s there a bit so worth mentioning) with apple, malt, and some honey at play.

fruity-sweet on the nose with a certain oily honey note. The taste is first spicy, then fruity-sweet with the well-known dominant waxy-oily honey character.
A classic that you should have tried.
    [90 - 86 = extremely tasty --- get a second bottle, don't look at the prize]
    • Nose
first of all I perceive a sweetness (powdered sugar, caramel, honey) and spice (nutmeg, white pepper) in the background as well as something herbal (very pleasant for me).
Light fruits join the sweetness, whereby here peach, apricot and (green) apple or (still unripe) pear stand out.
Depending on where I am on the nosing glass, I perceive a bitter malt note (as if there was beer in the glass) - very interesting.
Over time, the honey note becomes stronger and stronger and it appears oily and waxy, as one would expect from the Clynelish.
I also have a menthol-mint freshness that comes through every now and then and which also briefly transitions into a flowery-floral note.
    • Taste
very, very soft in the beginning. The peppery flavor appears late on the tongue. The spice also immediately covers the tongue. I wasn't able to perceive the fruits like that on the first sip.
With the second sip, the honey aroma is distributed in the mouth much more fruity, sweeter and creamy-oily.
    • Finish
the fruit and honey note stay in the mouth for a long time. A certain oak spiciness remains elegant in the background, but still carries the whisky in the finish for a while. You can tell how the whisky slowly wanders down the spit tube, warming.
A wax-like note, which is always mentioned in the Clynelish, is clearly audible.

    Always excellent a must have.
    • Nose
Iodine, wax, a gourmet character with apple tatin. Very melted and successful.
    • Taste
Balanced mouth and in line with the nose, with wax, iodine, caramelized apple, stewed plums. Very good.
    • Finish
Long for 46%, very sweet, still with notes of baked apple and wax.
