Very nice. Packed with different flavours. The high alcohol percentage is well-hidden. The only negative is the relatively short finish.

A lot going on here. A caramel sweetness, combined with a citrus freshness. I get both lemons and oranges. There is definetely some spiciness as well - going towards red chilis. The high alcohol percentage could of course contribute to this sense of "sharpness"

Very smooth. Quite an oily mouth-feel. The high alcohol percentage is not noticed. The caramel sweetness is still obvious - I very much get fudge. The citrus-flavours are still there - but moving a lot more towards sweet oranges and mandarines. The spiciness is quite subtle, but comes more to the forefront with some swirling/chewing. The spiciness moves more towards cinnamon and cloves, pairing beautifully with the notes of oranges/mandarin to give me christmas-y associations.

Sweet and dry finish that is quite short. It is also strangely "fresh", leaving almost a minty taste in my mouth. Quite pleasant. I just wish it lingered a bit longer.

A real surprise package. Successful, simple but striking bottle design. The 500ml bottle quickly reminds you of a perfume bottle. Unspectacularly packed in a thin cardboard box. As is so often the case with Japanese whiskeys, a screw cap, which initially clouds the feeling of being served.
But when you have it in the glass, the first smell notes love it. Fresh citrus notes paired with sweet vanilla rise into the nose. After the first quick moment of pepper and spiciness, a fruity aroma immediately emerges in the mouth, followed by fine woody notes. The finish is medium long, but pleasant and leaves only a slight feeling of astringency, probably from the tannins.
