An extreme experience in all regards. Hate it or love it, I guess. 2 cl is enough for me, but I can't deny the quality on display here, even if it's not my style of whisky.
Umami galore! Very meaty and savory, with associations of marrow, game, Marmite, and Worcestershire sauce. Behind that, a soft glue note and all imaginable kinds of red berries. Cassis in the lead. Also a musty impression from the cask. Pretty intense, almost brutal, but still very much enjoyable.
Oh my! This dries out your mouth like sawdust. Super tannic and dry, but at the same time it leaves a sugary film on your teeth like an 80s-style lemonade. Very musty on the palate, like licking a damp, old cask. The counterweight is provided by a several jarfuls of red-berry jam.
Water makes it more approachable (I know: who would've thought, right?).
Long, sugary-sweet, grapey/winey, and musty.
