The Chenin Blanc grape variety is made from white grapes. It is mainly located in France, South Africa, Mexico and the United States. It produces white, sweet white, sparkling white and sparkling rosé wines. In France, it is found mainly in the Loire Valley and Center, Languedoc Roussillon, South West and Poitou - Charente regions.
We are especially interested in the soft whites here, of which a barrel from Sot De l'Ange has magnified a 17-year-old distillate, put in barrel fino in 1997.
    • Nose
honey, candied fruit on white grapes paillasse on a woody litter and a little soaking this wood which is aged, degraded.
      spicy sweetness, fresh coconut oil
a little dry mold, yellowed herbs, a little menthol in return.
a little sweet caramel, more fruit on the peach there
    • Taste
roundness due to an overall sensation:
sweet honey, vanilla, oak, fruit on the green apple, very juicy and dehydrated apple rings very sweet
sweet spices then slightly peppery, honey in syrup with a little herbs (dried flowers!), a melting pot of diffuse scents, which turn on the palate and which move away from the "traditional sherry" of the bottler .
the soaked dry white grapes and the woody area, which is also moist at the end.
    • Finish
long, and complex oscillating between the fruits lighter than a sherry and fresh, and a persistent woody scent, all complemented by sweet vanilla honey, the grains above the honey jar.
slight bitterness cream that potentiates these scents even more.

For Michel Couvreur, this whisky is undoubtedly unusual. And in the price segment, I also prefer the sherry treasures I love. However, the nose is really interesting and simply offers a lot. The palate is great and here some typical Couvreur wine characteristics come into play. All in all, an excellent whisky with a palate to fall in love with. 90 points.
    • Nose
The first thing I have is apple juice in my nose. A mix of green and red apples. Amazingly fresh. Mirabelle plums are also there. A hint of mint suggests itself. And the oak is also there immediately. It spices the otherwise fresh nose dry and aromatic. With a little time, stall aromas will be added. Almost a little sulphurous, some dirty hay sneaks into the nose. For a moment something flashes that reminds me of an aromatic incense stick with hints of lavender. The sweetie has a hard time in the nose.
    • Taste
Oh, that's unexpected. Much sweeter. Beguilingly sweet. Light grape juice. Sugared grape skin. Oak inlaid in honey. Sugared spices. Thyme, but only very subtle. The second sip is a little less sweet, a little cooler. The wine character is now sparkling and sparkling. The apple now comes through more strongly on the palate. Mild and mealy. The palate is incredibly full.
    • Finish
Sweet with grapes and honey. Medium length, slightly sticky.

Alba - 17 years Fino barrel, then Chenin Blanc for 5 years. 46% vol CS and SC! 60 bottles for DE.

Nose: coconut on the face. Citrus fruit, grape. Great fruit cocktail.

Palate: First very fruity - green apple, grape. Then nice wood seasoning. Very vinous on the finish, slightly sweetish. Vanilla.

Great part! Absolute recommendation for friends of barrel-aged white wines.
