Zhongzheng atmosphere, all performances are very balanced. I feel that Genting Shirley in the new century wants to drink well and go to the two extremes. Either it can be filled first, and the fermented feeling close to the liquor is best shown; or it is to keep the winery soda crackers and reef sea breeze as much as possible. Do not introduce dark fruits, the original style is undoubtedly an excellent representative of the latter.
    • Nose
Wow, the best private barrel in Genting after the resumption of production is the kind of Shirley's fruity flavor added just right, without covering up the salty cheese and the seaside style in the winery's genes. If you compare it with OB, the closest thing should be 16yo Local Barley, but Xuan Yuan is getting colder. The refilled barrel is weak in style and brings bright yellow fruits, fragrant pear, citrus, lemon, passion fruit, peat and salt are not high, but there is a very vivid cold sea breeze blowing on the reef, Finally, some coconut milk, cheese, spices and peppermint oil.
    • Taste
It's a bit like a fat Talisker, crushed pepper, oceanic bitterness, bonfire and new branches. Shirley's style is more restrained, with citrus lemonade, berries, normal sweetness, honey, coconut, and finally a dull land with oak style, licorice, coffee beans and nutmeg.
Full and strong, rich in fat, moderately sweet, no tannins, no astringency, very light bitter base, slightly spicy.
    • Finish
For a long time, I added a little milk, red almond cheese and spicy oak.

Nose: A lovely older springer, classy and deep with a nice minerality to it: limestone, some citrus (mostly oranges, but touches of lemon), hessian, a bit herbal with quite some autumn leaves, hints of mint and herbs, as well as oil paint and a hint of peat and distant fruit. quite layered and complex…

Palate: Quite earthy on the start, the peat and soot are much stronger. Bitter and spiced with coffee beans, pepper, and dark bitter 90% chocolate, licorice, and lemon peel, ending on bitter earth and ashes.

Finish: Quite long, with an abundance of peat, and bitter coffee ground and wood.

Conclusion: A splendid whisky indeed. Don’t expect big sherry notes, this is indeed a refill barrel and it’s mostly about citrus fruit and peat/ soot and spices. Lovely stuff. Well done guys.

    Very long mouthfeel

A fantastic and very complex Springbank. Every sip and every dram reveals new beautiful secrets.
Nose: Orange, pear, smoked salmon and hyacinths.
Taste: Coconut, banana, with some salt, peatiness and also sweetness. With water it turns to lemon merengue pie.
Finish: Long, spicy and satisfying, with ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon.

An absolute diamond of a whisky from Springbank.
    • Nose
Good god, yes! Delicious mature Springbank with a fantastic subtle sweetness and soft fruitiness, mainly of the citrus variety but also some stone fruits. There's a touch of tobacco, polymer, menthol and burlap too. A few wet pebbles as well.
    • Taste
A bit more sturdy and robust than the nose. Earthy peat, campfire smoke and gentle spices, as well as a hint of cappuccino. But there's a friendly sweetness here as well, with a tinge of fudge, but also bright yellow fruits. Seriously great stuff.
    • Finish
      More of the above. Long.

A classic expression of everything I love about Springbank.
    • Nose
Sherry, oily with a touch of wood
    • Taste
Smooth, with some sweetness. Some coconut, toffee, restrained salt and then a whiff of peat comes in. Medium body.
    • Finish
Long lingering finish as the peatiness gives way to sherry. Satisfying.

Nose: oranges and tangerines, the profile Springbank is famous for. Some sherry, forest fruit and spiciness come through as well; coconut, mint and a littly peatiness.
Palate: liquorice, espresso coffee, almonds, followed by raspberry, sherry, and fresh fruit
Finish: long and evolving into nutmeg and coconut
