Nothing really bothers you here and the impressions are nicely balanced - but at the same time nothing stands out particularly striking. An uncomplicated and solid all-day malt without rough edges for easy enjoyment.
    • Nose
      79 79
Light gold with just a slight brown tinge sends thin legs into the glass. The medium golden color, like the first nose of lemon dextrose, confirms the re-fill sherry barrel, in this case Oloroso. Mealy apples, nectarines and the tartness of peach flesh close to the core or a slightly green banana mix with a slightly scented impression of daisies, beeswax and a pointed, sour note of anise and coniferous wood. In the background, gradually sweeter tones of creamy Malaga ice cream, liquorice, sweet and damp straw, mead with a little vanilla and unroasted toasted bread. An overall round, but also somewhat unspectacular profile.
    • Taste
      80 80
The malt covers the palate and burns its way over the palate walls of medium weight and a little oily. Daisies are back, and lilac, the white bread has turned more into cake batter and a hint of marzipan, sugar water and honey, while a slightly tart bit of glucose with emphatically pungent lemon, green apple and the slightly bitter green banana and grassy liquorice are back .
    • Finish
      82 82
The sweet and sour finish is reminiscent of a waxy white wine with green, slightly woody apple peel, an aniseed candy that was sucked to the end a while ago, candied fruit and a malty, doughy, homemade vanilla quark.

A classic Craigellachie, even if this time bottled in a rather rare (refill) sherry cask. The sherry is only felt very cautiously, overall rather elegant. The alcohol is well integrated in terms of taste.
    • Nose
      83 83
A bit of glue, quite alcoholic, clean and fresh, preserved fruit.
    • Taste
      84 84
At the beginning the Craigellachie-typical sharpness, fresh red fruits and very strong tannins.
    • Finish
      85 85
Very dry or astringent but rather long and complex, spicy notes.

with water: now add a few raisins, the nuttiness becomes a little stronger, and the taste becomes more pleasing

Conclusion: A nice drinking whisky, especially with water, but without any particular complexity, the sherry barrel is not very distinctive, in a blind tasting I guessed it was a bourbon cask.
    • Nose
fruity, especially light fruit (apple and orange), with a little pepper and only very subtle sherry notes (especially nut aromas), whereby the nuts get stronger in the glass over time, plus a little herbal honey and a few cloves
    • Taste
not really oily, the alcohol is also not perfectly integrated, light fruit, a few more subtle nuts, honey, oranges and pepper
    • Finish
rather medium to short, apple, pear, almonds, oak, dry on the back but without bitterness
