Nose

Quite aromatic. Fruity (peach, apple and citrus fruits), sweet vanilla, some flowers and a bit perfumy, albeit accompanied by a fresh note of mint and washed clothes.

Taste

Creamy vanilla with a sharp edge (pepper, alcohol), citrus fruits and peaches, garden herbs (parsley, rosemary, oregano) and a bit of honey .

Finish

Wood spice, walnut, sweet vanilla. Fresh citrus fruits and a slighly waxy mouth feel .

Comments

A pretty aromatic and fruity highlander. Improves with water, despite the low strength.

Ripe apples are in front with tangerines, sweet orange, peach. Leave out fruity components and you've got freshly shaved wood, vanillin, citric acid. It's crumbly, close to lemon wafers, vin blanc (sec), a little sour, white grapes, however sweetens onward - flabby like gelatin now. Apple-/pineapple juice, lemon jelly, lemony lollipop, boiled sweets.

Taste

Some may say delicate, I'd rather call it thin or light. It is delusive lightness though. To me it's similar to triple-distilled lowland style in some way, maintaining on the other hand plenty of pungency, robustness. Sucrose, candied violet/-rose petals, praline, fruit syrup, honey-lemon throat lozenge. Becoming sweeter in the last phase: lollipop again?, crème caramel, banana cream fudge and just a faint trace of salt.

Finish

Cereal grain (malted barley), has got some creaminess to it, nearly custardy, condiment heat, cloves, pepper, punch (drink), zest, aniseed, white oak, maybe a hint of roasted chestnut, citronella oil?, citron.

Comments

My previous experience with The Original 700 ml was somewhat different as compared to a newer 1 L. The first one was quite good in general, still not as good as was the content of 1 L bottle really. Batches do matter I suppose.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one.

The original expression of our elegant, floral spirit and the real backbone of the Glenmorangie range. A ten-year-old single malt, Glenmorangie Original is produced by marrying the delicate spirit that emerges from Scotland`s tallest stills, with first and second fill American white oak casks.
