    COLOUR: dark bronze (without dye)

    - Best of the 3 in my opinion
various 12 year old bottlings with finish (sherry,
    Sauternes & Port)
    - great whisky with port finish
    - for 50€ at that time for the 1L bottle
    unbeatable good price!
    • Nose
a lot of port, fruit notes (tangerines), some dark chocolate
    • Taste
also a lot of Portarmen in taste, very strong and with a lot of volume, fruity (tangerines), dark chocolate
    • Finish
      long, warm, pleasant finish ;
      medium-long aftertaste

For that price a real must if you want to taste a good port finish whisky. Is currently on fourth bottle and it never disappoints. Nice and balanced. Fruity and just delicious.

Love this stuff. One of the better fruity whiskies, got the fruit but isn't alcoholic juice. Not badly priced and consistently good.
    • Nose
Gunpowder. Plum pudding. Raisins. Dark sticky fruits. White pepper. Potpourri. Cherry liqueur. Sweet wood sap. Biscotti. Amaretto.
    • Taste
Dry red wine. Dark juicy cherries. Christmas pudding. Woodspice. Iced cinnamon bun.
    • Finish
Long. Dry red fruits. Ruby grapefruit. Rich wood. The good cough syrup from childhood.

Elegantly designed, nothing destroyed, no rough edges, but perhaps it lacks some character? But in Duty Free you can still access the now 12-year-old bottle!
    • Nose
Slightly acidic, very rich in wine gum, but not too dominant. Still the vanilla of bourbon barrels. Nothing was destroyed with the finishing, the smell is perfect.
    • Taste
      Chocolate, malt broth, vanilla.
    • Finish
Chocolate, vanilla, wine gum, but also raisins and fresh grapes, oranges or grapefruit.

Quinta Ruban is Glenmorangie`s port finish. To

craft this single malt they specially selected Port pipes from the Douro valley

    in Portugal
The nose is full of winter berries and a touch of port. A good

oak and a little cereal hanging in the substratum. The palate is sweet and

thick. The port note is chewy and rich with notes of barley sugar and cereal and

lots of juicy fruit and berries, a tad cloying. The finish is long and fruity

    and quite sweet.

    • Nose
Dark chocolate mint, mandarins and Seville oranges and hints of sandalwood, walnuts and spices such as pepper and nutmeg
    • Taste
Flavours of mint chocolate and walnuts floating on a silky texture, gecomplenteerd by floral flavors and sweet Seville oranges
    • Finish
Silky finish of dark chocolate, mint and refreshing notes of orange

The darkest and most intense whisky in the extra-matured range, Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban has spent 10 years maturing in American white oak casks, before being transferred into specially selected ruby port pipes from the Quintas or wine estates of Portugal.

A definite port finish,as betrayed by the colour. Very summery light and thirst-quenching.
    • Nose
Perky, refreshing. Pink grapefruit. The light and charming sweetness of juicy plums.
    • Taste
Silky, with a muslin-like feel. The same delicate pleasing sweetness brings fruity flavors. A wine touch followed by dryspices.
    • Finish
      Dry with a tingling fizziness.

Compared to the base 10y, this is definitely a move for the better.
    • Nose
Rich, it does not look like Ports, but it certainly takes over from the port part of the bouquet, the overproduced fruit (mandarin) or rather the juice of the mandarin compote.
    • Taste
Warm, slightly fragmented with fragrance, spicy, woody, medium full.

  22. nijholtm scored this whisky 77 points Expert Senior

a good whisky, but not really complex and I would have loved to see more wine influences in there. The dark robust complexity of a very nice Port wine.
    • Nose
      cherries, chocolate and brown sugar.
    • Taste
lot of fruits: berries, strawberry and raspberries.
    • Finish
the fruits evolve to a dark chocolate note.
