Whisky Reviews for Oban 1984

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.28 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Fresh and strong citrus mole with an abundance of oak, which is generally expected from Oban, the aroma with a good density and depth slightly disappoints with the set of ingredients, the taste / aftertaste is perfectly balanced, the fine work with the fortress - everything went not even into power and pressure, but turned into a stream of sparkling spring freshness. Lemonade barrel fortress.
    • Nose
Dry, refreshing, mineral - dusty weather-beaten boulders, drying plaster; lemonade notes, wildflowers - the first nose reminds Clynelish without wax and honey, then the grain tones - raw grains, flour; mineral water, vegetable puree, potato peelings, lemon peel, perfume notes, camphor, a little carpentry.
    • Taste
Lemonade, sweetness, then a powerful wave of pepper and strong, rich oak, a feeling of freshness, lemon, kumquat.
    • Finish
Crusts of oranges and lemons, young bark and leaves of black currant, lollipops, lemonade, fruit sour.

  2. KayMeertens scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Oban is not a distillery which I regard very highly, but this one is really good. 89/90.
    • Nose
Plum jam, apple compote, apricot, honey, toffee, lime, vanilla, leather, mint,
malt, cocoa, fig and blossom. Tobacco as well. After a while quite some gingerbread comes up, or more specifically
for the Dutch speakers taaitaai or speculaas. With water more waxiness. Great nose.
    • Taste
Honey, beeswax, plum, leather, lime, caramel, apricot and gingerbread. Smoke and a slight nuttiness.
    • Finish
Leather, plum, beeswax, blueberry, honey, apple compote, rhubarb, mint and smoke.

  3. Largiemeanoch did not rate this whisky Member Senior

The nose is very distinguished and floaty. The palate is a bit too assertive because of the high strength. Requires oxygenation and water.
    • Nose
Shy, delicate. Spring garden. Grassy. Orange sherbet. Raspberry. Mint lollipop. A briny echo.
    • Taste
Smooth, gentle at start. Then the alcohol strength breaks out. Iced mint sweets.
    • Finish
Tangy (even with water), dry. Herbal.
