- SMWS Tasting Notes: This closed distillery, which makes a welcome return to the list, was located just south of Peterhead and was the most easterly distillery in Scotland. It stopped production in 1982 and has since been demolished. this rare cask, a refill hoggie has a glowing apricot gold colour. The first nose is reminiscent of being inside a baker's shop, with yeast, baking bread and even hops. The taste is very pleasant with Battenberg cake and pecan nuts. With water it has become quite fruity with honey glow melon and fruit salad. It is very fresh and summery. On the palate it is quite short and again fruity. The Panel felt that it changes quite significantly with water and recommended drinking it neat.
one blows me away – it is awesome!
old with a touch of herbs, grass and hay.
Ripe bananas and tropical fruits.
wood spices, somewhat peaty. Caramel. Very subtle and salty!
long and complex with wood spices.
