A great old-style copy. Long live the Paxarette!
    • Nose
A concentrate of sherry, liquorice, raisins and thickened plum compote, fully ripe blueberries
    • Taste
Sherry grenade old style, red fruits, spicy very balanced woodiness, it remains a Nussigkeit on the tongue, dark chocolate
    • Finish
Fruity sherry sweetness, gets very dry - in the end pushes strong wood and the tannins are unmistakable

Each sip was more pleasant than the last! Enthusiasm: Nose: 4/5 Palate: 4/5 Final: 4/5 Whisky n ° 1760
    • Nose
Delicate, light and deep. Red wine, juicy red fruits. Wood, chocolate. New dust and new wood are added to the rest. Some late exotic fruits.
    • Taste
Smooth attack. At first almost slim, it is creamy but remains very fluid. Spices pull hard towards bitterness. Less from the 2nd sip, offset by the vinous notes that round the whole.
    • Finish
      Final bitter and spicy.

  3. sagara-kun scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

    Very good and sweet.
Classic Sherry but all in all classic.
    • Nose
      Classic, woody sherry.
      Strawberry, cherry.
      Chocolate wood. Currant.
      Leather, light camphor.
    • Taste
On the palate sweet, round and a little watery.
On the see and chocolate above all.
      Leather then, and waxed.
      Dried fruits. Nuts, hazelnuts.
    • Finish
Final on dried fruits, leather and wood.

On the nose, the deluge of dust of old grimoire, it smells of mildew, dust, then appear macerated fruit, marker sherry important!
return of cherries in jars, at the moment when we remove the moldy film!
trace of dark chocolate to finish!
    • Nose
sherry, sodden wood, creamy caramel, velvety, vanilla, sweet spices and dust!
      then fresh with herbaceous menthol.
    • Taste
Oh, sherry so strong in the nose is diluted almost too easily with the fine spices, nuts, cocoa, it's almost too sweet on the palate, but the return leads to a feeling of old blend extra!
    • Finish
long, taking with stones, and menthol.

Old Bunna H2H, Auld Acquaintance V the rest 1960-1968

    1 – Bunna 1964 25 year cask 4852/3/4/5 46% Signatory Dumpy – WB ID 7581
    2 – Bunna 1964 25 year cask 423/4/5 46% Moon Import, The Animals –WB ID 8683
    3 – Bunna 1966 35 year cask 4379 46.1% OB Feis Ile 2002 – WB ID 21051
    4 – Bunna 1967 33 year cask 3315 41.1% Malts Of Scotland, bourbon hoggy – WB ID 16817
    5 – Bunna 1968 41 year cask 12401/2/3 41.2% Adelphi, refill sherry - WB ID 15142
    6 – Bunna 1968 50 year Cask Mos 18032 42.1% Malts Of Scotland, sherry butt – Warehouse Diamonds – WB ID 121396
    7 – Bunna 1968 34 year cask 43.8% Auld Acquaintance OB,sherry - WB ID 3105
    8 – Bunna 1960 39 year cask 43.4% Douglas Laing OMC, (peated) – WB ID 5597

Bunna stopped peating in 1962 or 1963, so the OMC is a rare beast, and will be tasted last. , but will the Auld Acquaintance or the 50 year Mos tame it?

    RESULT
    1 - 60 Douglas Laing OMC
    2 - 68 Auld Acquaintance
    3 – 68 50 year Cask Mos 18032
    4 - 66 Feis Ile 2002 OB
5 - 68 Adelphi almost as good as the 66
    6 - 67 Mos 33 year cask 3315
    7 – 64 Signatory
    8 – 64 Moon Import
I really cannot split the 1960 Douglas Laing (peated) and the 1968 Old Acquaintance but on an emotional level I will give it to the DL, but both these whiskies must be the best Bunna ever bottled.

The 50 year Malts of Scotland is quality and the 1966 OB Feis Ile is very rich and a quality dram and not far behind is the 1968 Adelphi which surprised me in a good way. The 67 Mos is nice and all of these 6 are way in front of the two 1964 offerings which were not really at the races because they are lighter with less going on basically.
In truth the first 6 are all excellent, this was a great H2H.

    Nice old Bunna
    • Nose
      91 91
Rich sherry mixed with some oak on the nose, then it gets a little vegetal but also some high quality sherry on show. Some stewed dark berry notes mixed with date & prune
    • Taste
      93 93
Rich sherry, fruit loaf, currants, sticky toffee pudding and some nice spice notes
    • Finish
      93 93
Gets even more spicy and fruity, excellent

Definitely find a cognac-like note in the nosing. Otherwise it brings the tasting notes from:
    lachaineduwhisky
    to the point!

    Color: Mahogany
    • Nose
      93 93
Red fruits, old leather, lavender, liquorice, touch of wood. Really fresh nose for an old whisky.
    • Taste
      94 94
Oily, more sherried than the nose let expect, wood at first, then spices, leather, dried fruits
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium long, shorter than what I expected, on liquorice and menthol cigarettes. Not that I smoked that.
