All in all, it's an exciting vintage malt that sells both vintage benefits and drawbacks, it has surprisingly "fresh" pears and apple notes, but also the dusty one, an experience definitely, the 40% of course put down a lot of what could be.
    • Nose
Phew, deep, lots of vintage flavor, even the more difficult variety, lavender, dusty apple, leather, cocoa beans, earthy, old sherry with roasted nuts, just a hint of salt
    • Taste
Burnt toast, cocoa beans, rosemary, lavender, camphor, leather, old, mushy pear and apple, old chest of drawers, book spines and curtains, walnut, burnt brown sugar, cardamom, saffron, still spicy after all the time, but rounded, dark cherry with Kernels, old orange peel and a little grapefruit, some brown bread
    • Finish
Later sweeter, typical vintage finish, chestnut, dresser, tobacco box and sweet, dark malt, medium to long only in the long time in the bottle

VArnish, obe, tobacco, peat, pineapple, candied tangerine, bit of toffee, cant compare to the CS versions which are ootw but this is brilliant

Feels really old and rough, but good
Just compared it side by side against the 1957 100proof and of course this is not in the same league.
    • Nose
      89 89
Cigar tobacco, cold ashes, green fruits, leafy, herbal, whiffs of peat and smoke, after a while some citric notes, stones, sea breeze - very good
    • Taste
      90 90
Little punchy, oily, minerals, little salty, old books, more herbs, just little peat and smoke
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium long, warm, zesty, a tad bitter

Now he is due. The nose is already neat. It also smells kind of old, musty, earthy and old honest sherry. Some nutmeg and roasted aromas. One could almost think that something like Tokajinoten is coming over. Hardly any smoke. The maritime salty note is there. Does he still have the chillicatch? I'm afraid only in the mouth, the 40% will not be enough ... ... and that's how it is. A nice oily consistency with dried fruit, lots of wood, without being bitter, vanilla, biscuit. dark cherries, marginal smoke and some cardamom in the back. No chilicatch and little or no pepper. Unfortunately comes out relatively little back and the finish is also medium. Conclusion: A nice whisky that promises much of the nose, but then unfortunately due to the 40% Alk Vol. (Maybe it is already less, since I do not know how long the bottle was open at the owner) not quite in the mouth and Finish can keep up.
