    Great Glengoyne with full aroma, finally another great SC from Glengoyne
    • Nose
      93 93
      A full spectrum of bright sherry aromas rises directly into your nose, red grapes, figs some wood and cappuccino in the background. Really a complex intense nose without a hint of spiciness. After about 20 minutes the leathery notes come through a little more.
    • Taste
      89 89
      With minimal pepperiness, the Glengoyne starts on the tongue, oily and full it spreads and also releases beautiful oak aromas without a trace of bitterness. You won't find any sulfur here either. It is a brilliant not overloaded malt
    • Finish
      90 90
      This is where the leather with espresso and oak aromas really comes into its own, what previously behaved now releases ripe and powerful aromas. A great interplay

    My opinion:
    Color: dark gold
    Aroma: The alcohol picks something in the nose; a little brackish sherry nose - is this just a finish?, definitely one of these more one of these new-fashioned sherry casks, initially the grape fruit has a slight acidity here, which I classify as a bad note, however, a little later this acid fights a vanilla-like powdered sugar note and makes the whole thing inharmonic;
    Taste: Clearly more harmonious on the palate, but also simpler. Here, the clear barrel influence also creates a dominant wooden bitterness. The alcohol stinging in the nose is surprisingly better integrated to the palate, but "good" is something else, because a tingle lasts quite a long time on the tongue.
    In the aftertaste, this powerful malt lasts quite a long time. Where I'm undecided whether that's good or not.
    Conclusion: This whisky has nothing special and after the excessive influence of wood, the thing would have had to come out of the barrel much earlier. In addition, there is a new-fashioned sherry influence (finish? / Choice of sherry quality?), Which is not my thing. In the end it is a drinkable, but now irrelevant whisky. 78/100
